I'm told the orange is cement and that it has to be cut off.
The orange might be cement, but the valve has a compression fitting where it is attached to the CPVC pipe. Try removing the nut first.

I have heard it said that petroleum is so useful for so many things it is a shame we use so much as just fuel. I am sure there are several not so useful waste products from refineries.

My grandfather worked at Armor & Co for many years. He said with a pig they used everything except the squeal.

Most complex refineries can get over 44 gallons of fuel from every 42 gallon barrel of crude oil. (hint, volumetric expansion).

This is what leaves our plant:

Diesel
Jet Fuel
gasoline
LPG, used for fuel
Coke, used in smelting
elemental sulfur.
water

Complex refineries can turn almost everything into fuel.
The more complex, the less byproducts or waste.

This is waaay over-simplified:

Yep - Pappy. Met him at an airshow when I was a kid and asked for his autograph, which he grumbled about giving because I didn't buy his book. I wanted it but didn't have any cash : (

Same here, airshow in Aurora, CO in the 70's... I already had his book and brought it with me.
He signed it, but wasn't happy about it.
