Not sure if the green font was accidentally omitted but... Can-am had/has a fair number of staggered stack, injected, big block Chevys running. I believe the idea in staggering the trumpet lengths was to smooth/spread power delivery over a greater RPM band--but would defer to an authority on that.

I went to the Miramar Air Show many years ago, the same year the Air Force decided to show the Night Hawk 117 for the first time and lots of people were looking at it......BUT the longest line was at the Hawaiian Tropic Booth with half a dozen of their well tanned lasses and they were all signing a large poster and it took me 2 hours to get mine! Still on the garage wall next to a Tecate Girls Poster! Random pict (home made shoot n see with my muzzle loader 45 caliber at 300 yards).

I grew up attending many Can-am races and I know what a Hillborn injection looks like. The car in the original picture never raced in any Can-am that I know of. I was curious as to what it is. Not a v8, not a v6, so what is it?

uhh...ok. It's DEFINITELY a Can Am BBC with Hillborn/Lucas fuel metering drive and distributor hanging off the back. The orange circle shows the reflection of the short intake aft and below that trumpet serving as a mirror. The red rectangle shows the top of a short inlet just peaking out between the tall intakes fore and aft of it. The arrows show 8 fuel lines leading to the individual injectors.

The picture in question is strange just by looking at it. But why is there only a right side air inlet, not both sides for cooling brakes, or the motor. I would love to see that car from the side because I just don't recognize it. It does look like a big block but you can see my confusion. The other black car in the early post is easily recognized as a bbc. In 1975, the orange McLaren, Bruce's own car was for sale for $5000. 2 motors, 8 wheels, 2 tranny's, extra bodywork. I still have the ad.

It is an odd angle. The left side scoop feeds the oil cooler. Coolant radiator is in the front. May be Chaparral valve covers on a Lola t163 (or whatever) car. A time machine would have a fella making all sorts of "shoulda" purchases!! Personally, I'd have been all over all the WWII aircraft I could find and fund!!
