Not singling out this poster but I wish you guys would resizing your pics so I can see more than this:

Some folks are chronically bad about posting pics way too big and I just ignore them.
Rant over.

The deal is that he doesn't attach the pics to Pelican, he links them from their home on the web. It's much better for Pelican to link to an image vs upload an image. Linking to an image takes practically no storage space. Uploading or posting the image takes a ton more space which means Pelican has to spend more money on hardware to hold an image that's probably already somewhere else on the 'Net. The way Tom does it is efficient and saves Pelican money. It's not too bad for me since my monitors are set to 1920x1080 and 1920x1200, but even then, some of the images that he posts would require a 4k monitor.

It used to be pretty easy to find a smaller size of the same image from google images, but since google changed google images, it's not any more. I just don't post huge images. I know that some of you are probably still running at 1280x1024.

If you use Firefox, you can download an extension that allows you to zoom an image in or out which fixes the problem.

Never Rest Your Hand On The Shifter

I have heard this many times over the years, but was never clear as to why. Now I know.

This is from an 8 speed Spicer transmission from one of our International flatbeds- approx 400K on the odo and it would no longer stay in 5th or 6th gear. Our mechanics dig into it, and now we know why!

I wish I’d snapped a pic of the new part, but both sides of that channel have been worn away by the synchros, and one look by the guy at the parts counter and he told us, “Tell your driver to keep his hand off the shifter when he’s going down the highway.”
