I'm sure it's not, but the Serving in the War zone outweights the ceremonial duty part, any day of the week.

Ceremonial duty cannot be more important then ACTUAL duty, that's what i'm saying.
It's ceremonial. There is NO risk.
The idea of remembrance they guard does not make them heroes themself.
Please allow me to start by saying I am glad that we both agree that those that serve their country in the
military should be honored.

Please allow me to clarify what I am saying. To me, the honor guard is not more honorable than others who serve. They have pinpoint precision accuracy for performing the ceremonial duty of giving honor. They have the honor of being the best at doing the things in the ceremony to honor the true heros. Very few are allowed to join this group because they are not as good. As such, it is an honor to honor the most honorable. (Won that is a weird sentence)

I don't deny that they are the best at what they do in the US, but on the other hand, they have no competition either. It's the only unit that is dedicated for that specific job.
The have a monopoly.

If you ask me , they are kinda over doing it in that sense.. the how they do it is taking imho to much attention over what they are doing.

Just the way they speak to the crowd, with that voice they use.. it's acting really.
Nobody who stands on guard at a military memorial should be so busy with performance that they all try to speak in a uniform way.
If I were appointed commander (obviously never going to happen)
I'de want them to tone it down a notch, talk normal, as they would if they were on guard at any regular military location,
assertive, yes, commanding, yes, loud enough yes,
but whatever voice they have would be the voice they use. And if one of them has a less then booming voice, so be it.

IMHO, There is to much form over function.

But that's the American way.. Y'all are well into show business.
Compare a US Football match vs a Europ Football match.. The difference is obvious.
Same function, grown men running around with a ball
Completely different production values.

In recent years our football has seen a bit more show, especially at the World Cup
But the most basic Professional American Football game will have more show then any of the World cup matches.

And a lot of nationalism added as well
National Anthem singing by diva singers(often with mixed results)
American flags
Fighter jets doing fly by's

You'll be hard pressed to find that in Europe for any non International soccer game.

To be honest, the only ones in Europe I know that are as chauvenistic, are the French...Which is a comparison a lot "we got freedom fries now", won't like.
