In the movie he first found pathfinder by digging down to find the very top of it. So to get it where it is in that picture, he would have had to dig down at least 4 or 5 feet.

But he obviously did not. No hole, no berm, no crater, just level ground around it. Magic. Maybe he levitated it.
The gravitational acceleration on Mars is 3.72076 ms−2, 38% of earth.

Clearly he is able to throw the debris considerably farther than on earth and it almost certainly lofts radically differently resulting in greater disbursement and lack of piling up.

Note the rather large hole this dog has dug on mars and really no berm or other evidence of digging.

O, I C
makes sense.

According to NASA, the camera or "imager" was five feet tall. The anten-eye was prolly taller than that.

I'm beginning to wonder of Mark Watney was ever on Mars in the first place.
That's right, I'm calling shenanigans.
The entire movie was STAGED!

Sammy, for sure that wind storm in the firt part of the movie could never blow that hard in the super thin atmosphere of Mars. Yea, it will blow sand around, but not people. So the entire move is just all staged and fake. It never really happened!

Maybe this is that point to insert the reminder this was a...whats the word...oh yeah - MOVIE?

There's that whole 'suspension of disbelief' thing.
