MAGIC!

There's a shovel in the photo. What other sort of tool were you expecting?

An unknown string instrument. He might be Japanese especially from the panel screens behind.
It looks like there are three strings on top in a group, three in middle, three on bottom.
The 'bow' is a disk turned by a crank on the end. This might be like a band-strap brake drum.
The 'frets' are a row of push buttons similar to an accordion.
Sounds like a Viola maybe. Deep rich raspy sound.

It might also be dermabrasion (sandblasting) which my mom had for acne scars.
I remember her face was bloody like that in the hospital.

As a child, AC/DC guitarist Angus Young modeled for Carnaby Street fashion designer John Stephen, 1963.
