You can get the educational discount- that saves you $30, plus sometimes Apple as coupons for $25 off purchases over $300. I got my 15gig second generation ipod for $345 using these discounts. This was when they first came out too. It was the shipped the day Apple released it and I got it on my doorstep two days later.

Go to Apple's online store, search "refurbished", find the special deals page, and look for refurb'd iPods.

Success - All Thanks To Bell!

Resurrecting this thread to announce that I am happily playing the iPod through the Porsche's stereo - thanks to advice by guru Bell.

On his recommendation, I bought a Farenheit FM modulator EFM-01 from Crutchfield

http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-NwyEHoLWK52/prodview.asp?s=0&cc=01&i=026EFM01&g=42500 ($40)

And a RCA-to-mini cable from Radio Shack ($5 or so)

Then spent 15 minutes on my back in the car (being of legal age).

Now all I do is plug the iPod into the cable and hit the radio's preset for 89.9 FM and 20GB of music is pouring out through the 911's audio system. Whee!

I haven't noticed any particular interference and the sound quality is fine for me.

Thanks, Bell!
