Yes I fly radio contol planes, didnt relize so many other porsche owners did also.

Some things to look for when getting an easy to fly trainer is

Get a high wing

Pref 40 size motor

And dont get a tail dragger (wheel for steering at rear of plane).

Also a good idea to get a wing that is fixed on by rubber bands, so that if you put a wing in the ground on landing it will do minimum damage.

ARF kits are a good idea too as they are easy and quick to assemble, and hard to make a mistake with.

Also get some lessons its harder than it looks.

I flew quite a few a number of years ago, and was a regular writer for "FlightSmith" magazine. You have gotten good advice here.

Number one is lessons!
Number two is a trainer craft. I know they are ugly and boring, but if you are good, you can be into a nice mild sport craft in 4-6 weeks...

I fly RC gliders myself....like a kite with no strings. No fuel to buy, no fingers lost, quiet and if flying in an open field, all you need to buy is a 100 ft. of surgical tubing for the high start. Dumping the thing over the cliff off of Discovery Park is a thrill too.

Don't get me started on kites...I've blown enough money on spectra line...
