exc911ence, I talked to Chris today about your being accepted into RGruppe and asked what the delay was. He DID recieve your $50.00 Money Order but he still hasn't gotten the results of your PAP smear. So, until he gets these results your application is on hold.
Sorry.

Just Saw this post and have to say that all the R Gruppe gents I have met are good guys and true porschephiles like the rest of us on this board. They love modified early cars, have some of the nicest examples I have seen and like to use them on track. I own a "wanna be" R gruppe style car that is certainly not in the same league as BBII or TEDs toy but is in my humble opinion a nice example (even if I can't drive it at its full potential) I have never been formally asked to "Join" and frankly don't care because when I show up at a local AUTOX the Gruppe guys (who are some very fast drivers and solid wrenches) always welcome me, offer technical advice, help in the pits, driving tips etc. They are not "Stuck up" and are genuinely friendly folks. To me they are a group of early 911 hot rod owners who seem to welcome like minded guys, R-gruppe Sticker or not.

My 2 cents, Jim

Listen Up Fools

Don't You guys get it.... The R Gruppe maybe the biggest bunch of local loser lunkheads of all time but they are my boiz and if anyone is going to trash talk the R Gruppies it's gona be me. Get it. So all U squirells out there go back to packing away the nuts for winter, I hear it's going to be a long one.

To ask what kind of arrogant California flakes the R Gruppie is all U have to do is look at one of the BIggest *********s in the Gruppie...CurtisAA.....what kind of geek is he...well when Sam kissed the side of the mountain with his Porsche it was Cutis who was there for him. Who brought Sam kandy and flowers in the hospital it was Cutis...who held Sams hand while he was in there Cutis thats who. I even heard he told him bedtime stories.

Now while Kris might be the messiah personificated to the R Gruppies, and they follow him like lemmings going over a cliff. Kris does have a busy schedule with family, work and the like. But I do think Kris you fked up this one...4 months with out a reply is a bit much and I would be wondering what planet you were on to? You gota cover the guy and not leave him lost in space. It's understandable for him to ask him the question without the dimmer bulbs in the outfit getting their panties in a bunch and going into a hissy fit over it. Shame on you morons, Kris oughta whack your pee pees, and send you to bed widhout your dinners over this one. Is that anyway to treat a prospective fish? I say get their $50, send em a sticker to keep em happy so that it will be awhile longer before they realize they've bin suckered.

You see the R Gruppies is such an adhoc Gruppy that they don't know whether they are coming or going. They often leave things dangling and have to be told to zip up afterwards. In other words social morons who you can't take anyplace without being embarrased. Humilated is more like it....and their rites of iniation are even more bizzare, I hear that they dress their new fish up in a Goat suit and proceed to do unmentionable things to him. Thats why the prospective fish is always asking wheres the Goat huh Stacy...surprise surprise your it!!!! Do I need to say more?

David

First off, please accept my sincere apology for not sending you an acknowledgement about your $50 membership dues. Yes I agree with you and everyone that you should have received an acknowledgement so I accept fault for this. It doesn't happen all the time but unfortunately it happened to you.

As a matter of fact on a number of occasions, I have made it a point to personally call new members, not only to acknowledge receipt of their payment and membership app, but also to thank them for their interest in becoming a member and officially welcome them into the club. Yes I’ve done this on a number of occasions (I wish I could do it for everyone but…) and will continue to when time and opportunity allows me to take that extra step. However, with over 300 members and daily e-mails from those seeking membership, it gets overwhelming at times.

Getting back to my failure to send you an acknowledgement, yes I can give you a bunch of excuses but bottom line, I failed in my duty and accept fault for the oversight. I’m only human and make mistakes, this time to the detriment of the club. Not acceptable and definitely shouldn’t happen to anyone.

Let me now take the time to respond to your charges that you got "scammed". Far from it and to prove it, I will reimburse you back your $50 membership and throw in another $50 for a total refund of $100. Call it an investment with 100% return, courtesy of R Gruppe. It’s my way of making up for my shortcomings and making you feel like you were “scammed”. I'm only guilty of not sending you an acknowledgement but that's all.

Your decision to flame me in this forum w/o trying to first send me an e-mail to voice your concern is one that I must take exception to. I resent your inference about being scammed which compromises my credibility and reputation as the founder and leader of this club. It was inappropriate and in poor taste on your part to use this forum to personally attack my character.

Your claim about your recent attempts to inquire about your membership status via e-mail and not receiving any response is also an issue. Especially since I have not received any from you and would not have ignored your inquiry on your membership status. I’m not sure where you sent it but it never got to me.

In spite of all this, I plead guilty and I’m at fault for failure to follow up with the acknowledgement in a timely manner. Therefore, I will enclose a personal written apology letter along with the $100 refund to be sent to you by Priority Mail on Monday, October 13th.

Now about your claim that you got “invited” to join, let me clarify one thing for you and for everyone to know. I did not “invite” you to become a member and do not make a practice of doing so to attract new members. You inquired about membership via e-mail sent to the R Gruppe website and went through great lengths to tell me about your involvement with Porsches and describe in detail what you felt was a car worthy of being in R Gruppe. You initiated the contact and we exchanged e-mails and based on that, I accepted your request and sent you the membership form. Whether you now view that as an “invitation” so be it. You got “invited” to join because you requested to be considered for membership and though I have not opened this club to many 912 owners, I extended that special consideration to you based on your merits and your strong level of interest in being part of this club.

To put it all into perspective, let it be known that I do not and will not ever solicit, recruit, nor "invite" just anyone to become a member. For the same reasons I don't promote nor advertise the club. Though some will say that membership is “by invitation only”, one doesn’t get invited unless one expresses strong interest in becoming a member. Though you may own what you perceived as a highly modified 912 worthy of being part of the R Gruppe, don't flatter yourself and declare that you got “invited” and was asked to join because of it.

BTW, in case you were wondering the member # assigned to you, it was #311. Sorry for your bad experience with the R Gruppe. I don't run a scam nor do I intentionally deceive members and take their money for nothing.

Other clubs have their own followers and some may like to poke fun at R-Gruppe. Its free speech but there are a few of those guys who like to stir things up just because they can behind the comforts and safety of their keyboards. Knock yourself out fellas! Seems like one of the ways you get your jollies. Our basic belief in “our group” is one’s time could be better spent driving your Porsches. It’s been known to even improve one’s attitude and perspective of those who share a common interest in
P-cars.

Then there are also those who may not necessarily share the philosophy and the motivation behind
R Gruppe’s existence - so be it. We're not trying to win a popularity contest nor do we feel the need to be accepted by everyone. R Gruppe has a common goal which everyone shares, enjoy the company of fellow members and enthusiasts, drive the cars and most importantly, have FUN.

R Gruppe member, Cain de Vore (in an article published in the last R Gruppe News) may have best summed up the motivation and inspiration behind R Gruppe with this phrase;

“the cars may have inspired the R Gruppe, but the members created it. Both make it one of the most desired, revered, misunderstood, sometimes hated, often envied and exclusive Porsche clubs today”

In closing, David good luck with your hot rod 912 and may your find your place amongst the others out there. Based on the postings from this thread, you have already been “invited” to join the other clubs.

I will make this short and sweet........Some people get it , and some don't......... That's OK, as we are all humans.
Cris has done a outstanding job with the R Gruppe. Why, because he has assembled the finest group of early 911 enthusiests I have ever met. I have been the the Porsche world for 30 years now and this is my home.(the R Gruppe). One guy can only do so much. We could care less if our news letter is late. Deadlines create stress. We don't need or want stress, just a good time.
I think some are pissed because this is one club that you have to be approved to join. It doesn't take much to join, just leave your negative attitude at home and have a love for the earlier 911.
As for Tabs previous comments about Curt, I am speechless!!
I have tolerated his previous postings until this last comment.
Nobody ran anyone into a cliff. It was accident.
Curt helping Sam in a time of need was a extreme act of friendship.
If I wasn't 3000 miles away, I would have been right beside Sam. If things were any worse than they were, I would have flown 3000 miles to help a fellow R Gruppe member.
300 members has become a little much for the R Gruppe, that's why Cris will be doing a little weeding out now and in the future.
So much for short and sweet..........

Cris, you're a stand-up guy, thanks for the personal reply. I did in fact send you 4 e-mails over the past couple of months to your e-mail link from the website (RGruppeRally@aol.com), why they didn't get to you is a matter to be taken up with AOL.

When I originally posted here, "scammed" was meant to be tongue-in-cheek and I had no ill feelings towards you or the RGruppe members, but after several attacks that I received here and via e-mail from your members, I don't think that the RGruppe is for me. Insults of my character and my car(s) do not make one feel welcome in a club. I will therefore accept your offer of reimbursement of my $50 (the $100 is not necessary) and, to quote one of your members, "be gone".

It's a shame that it all turned out this way but understanding that your membership represents you when you're not around, you might want to consider reeling in some of the more "passionate" ones.

David,

you described my inaction as a form of scam. The tone of your post sure didn't sound like it was tongue-in-cheek and judging from the way some of my members reacted, they too read it the same as I did. When you did that, you insulted me and R Gruppe and my members came to defend the honor and my credibility. R Gruppe is not for everyone, I'm glad to find early on that you're not a fit and just as well.

as for your suggestion for me to consider reeling in some of the more "passionate" ones, I don't need your advise so keep it.

Yeah, uhm, "sometimes hated" . .is that reference to tabs? I think you could replace "sometimes hated" with; "sometimes mocked, laughed at, and often ridiculed . . .exclusive Porsche clubs today” (just to take the "tabs reference" outta there. ..i think it just feeds him )

Just to be clear:
I do like, and have respect for, a handfull of guys whom have bought into the "r-gruppe". These individuals have so much going on, it completely makes-up for there association with the "envied and exclusive Porsche clubs today”

But, Cris etal, don't go thinking that the "good" that these individuals bring to your table, gives you a pass for arrogance.
. . . or the ridicule will continue.

Geez Cris, no one needs to bad mouth R Gruppe on this board. You can do enough damage all by your self. You acknowleged your mistake, made your peace offering and scored some points in my book. Did you not realize that that was the time to shut up.

Don't bother telling me you don't give a F*** what I think. I already know that. But, you have some very nice people in R Gruppe on whom you are reflecting very poorly right now.

I will proudly count myself among the "unfit" if you are demonstrating the standard.
