The jury's still out on the new Mustang, for me.

And honestly, I'm not much of a fashion guy at all.

But what's up with the pants those models are wearing? They just look, well, wrong, somehow...

Eek!

It must be just me, but it seems all of the current "sports car" designers must be in fear of high water since the belt line of these cars is way up there!

What ever happened to LOW SLUNG SPORTS CARS!

check the mustang above and new Z:

Harry --
It's cruel to compare anything designed in recent years to an E-Type; especially anything from Japan.

It's the top-secret conspiracy to continually reduce driver visibility until we're no longer the ones driving the vehicle. A copy of Al Gore 2.0 will be installed in every navigation system running Microsoft WinCE 12.4 and take you to your destination at a safe 25 mph.

It doesn't quite have the same "holy ***** that cars kicks some a$$" feel that i imagine the original gto had when it was released. Plus it's too sedanish.

looks like a Cavalier

Nice GTO site.

An old friend had a '68 Black on Black convertible....just like on the GTO evolution site. Man that puppy had torque like a baby has snot. Unreal!

My first car was the relatively tame '68 Tempest in April Morning Mist (Light metallic green/gold)....Thanks mom!

pwd72s 11-18-2003 01:48 PM

Harry, I can remember thinking that the feds outlawing the glass covered headlights ruined the looks of the E type...;)

thamlin000 11-18-2003 07:40 PM

There aren't many (any?) cars that compare to the E-Type in the style catagory.

Did it have the "world famous" slush-o-matic 2 speed tranny like my college buddy?

JP,

The XKE, one of the world's greatest looking cars, even when it is not moving (good thing too, since an XKE IS the best looking car onthe side of the road :D ).

Harry -- LOL, even aside from the E-Type envy that I carry around.

Sorry to hear.

I know I do not have E-type envy, just HEALEY ENVY

Overpaid Slacker 11-18-2003 11:31 PM

Oh, come on. Tell me that on those rare occasions you see a pristine E-type (other than 12-cylinder tanks) rolling down the road, you don't have an involuntary "whoooa" escape your lips. No matter what I'm driving, it happens to me.

The E-Type and its siblings (C-Type, D-Type, XKSS) constitute the best gene pool in British automotive history.

In case you chaps are interested, there is a 24 hour race on this weekend at Bathurst in Australia. You may have heard of this circuit, it really is quite amazing. Anyway, the Monaro won it last year amongst an impressive entry list of Ferrari's, Porsche GT3's Lamborghini's etc. This years grid looks even better with several BMW M3 V8's etc competing.

www.bathurst24hr.com

By the way, the "Monaro" entered in this event has a 427 Chev under the hood and has heavily modified suspension/chassis/braking from the road going version.

Can't wait.
