At the risk of Wayne moving me..... But I would appreciate a day or so of visbility.
My wife is thinking about a week in Fiji. Has ayone gone there? What was it like? How does it compare to Hawaii, Mexico or the Carribean for sights and snorkeling?

Bora Bora .............. Paradise. I have a hard time leaving Montana. But I'll go back to Bora Bora.
Except for the long flight. Can't wait till they get the transporter beam from Star Trek up and running. LOL.

Harry,
My wife and I got married in Fiji two years ago. We were on a small island. Nothing much to see as far as sites on our island. No TV or radio either. Just beach and water activities. Snorkeling was ok but I think Hawaii is as good. There are different kinds of resorts on different islands. The one we stayed on was geared mostly to couples and had private huts. It was relaxing but I was bored after a week. Some resorts are large and have families in mind. Never been to Mex. or Carib but have been to Hawaii. I like Hawaii better just because there are other things to do besides sit on the beach. There is also a night life in Hawaii which our small island in Fiji did not have.

Isn't Fiji where that hotel bomb was set off killing hundreds of tourists? I think its a fundamental muslim controlled country.

I know we should not encourage OT posts, but you happened to mention one of my favourite places on this planet!.
Figi is Beautiful!. Hawaii is over populated Macdonalds in paradise!. Carib is full of chip on the shoulder locals, and Mexico.... well what can I say!. Yes I have been to all, frequently. Fiji's outer Islands are the place to go if you want untouched beauty, esp. under the water. Snorkelling is fantastic at the right places Scub diving - out of this world!. The locals are very friendly!. I would return there in a heart beat. The choice really depends on what you want or your family needs!. Hawaii and Mexico are very commercial and great for package tours, abundance of hotels and tours. Fiji is a group of South Pacific Islands which are off the beaten path and appeals to the traveller/explorer who is in search of something different Again - depends on your personal requirements- expectations but Fiji is top of my favourite places list! Rgds Ben

I'd vote for Fiji or Hawaii as you're Oregon (those places are far far away for us east coast people). But if you are considering the carribean you should consider Aruba. Was there in September and had a great time, good snorkling and diving. Before we went we read hotel recommendations on these forums. We stayed at the Hyatt and it was great.

Actually Bali is mostly Hindi but it is part of Indonesia, which is mostly Muslim.

Web over to Belize. Every bit of all the above posts, and more, but not all in one spot.
