Just be aware that "Peace" has absolutely nothing to do with "War". It's merely "in the spirit of" "War"....Whatever....

Still pretty good, though.

I fell asleep during the first and second movies, dont think I'll see the third.

It's pretty easy to ruin a good sci-fi/fantasy book for example...

Battlefield Earth (one of the greatest sci-fi books ever, IMHO) turned into the worst movie ever made. I dont think it ever COULD be correctly done as a movie.

I hear they are making a movie for Stranger in a Strange Land.

Im scared

Only in one case have I: "To Die For," starring Nicole Kidman.

The book was almost unreadable; by Joyce Maynard, I believe.

But the movie was leagues better.

Translating that into a workable script says a lot for the great Buck Henry.
I'll throw in one of my all time favorites, Michael Mann's "Last of the Mohicans". Fantastic telling of James Fenmore Cooper's difficult read. The movie Jaws was also a pretty good go - what it missed in storyline was more than made up for with Bruce - the timeless bogyman.

Wife and I liked the first two LOTR and looking forward to seeing the latest. Like the special effects and characters - neither of us have ever read the books. You could do worse...

You want hard, try making "Geek Love" into a movie. I betcha' it's impossible, even with all the special effects out there.

I agree - one of my favourite movies is One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest - in which the casting and acting is pretty outstanding, then I read the book and it was still better.

I liked ROTK (and the others). Mind you, it was made here, by NZers, and we get almost constant brainwashing about it (it has had a high media profile). Still, it is easy to say it doesn't seem that great, but I for one would find it pretty difficult to deliver constructive criticism. A lot of the hokey dialogue it straight from the books.

As long as they cut the 6,000 pages from the book after the hobbits get home I will call the movie a success.
