Lets talk about your girlfriends/wifes.....

.... scared you right??:D

Your woman are they into your deep interest for the 911's?
Are they follow to meetings and track-days?

And the final Q: who gets the most attention, your girl or your 911?

Janey likes the car, but doesn't love it.

And nor do I - never love something that can't love you back...

We go to Le Mans almost every year we can, and that's about it.

My wife is my Crew chief and moral support. She doesn't do any work on the car but is extemely supportive! She's also Swedish( born in Uppsala)..Happy Holidays Jocke, I had some good glug and Aquavit at her parents house in keeping with Swedish tradition.

Cheers, James

My wife's great. She's not obsessed with Porsche's or any car like I am, but she digs my cars, and loves to go watch auto races with me, go to swap meets, & club gatherings. She's the one that talked me into buying both my cars and is making me build a second garage/shop.

Did I say my wife's great:) .

VaSteve 12-28-2003 02:46 PM

She "let me" buy the car and even let me up the budget once we saw the stuff out there for what I originally wanted to spend.

I talked her into taking off the top* today for a fast drive around Northern VA on a 55 degree day.

*The Targa, you perv. :p

Talked YOU into buying the car? MAKING you build a shop? You wanna trade? Actually, my new car is growing on my wife, despite my habit of throwing all of the money at it that I can. In pictures she hated it, when she saw it in person she said it was cute, and now she's asking to drive. I can't see her autocrossing any time soon, but her enthusiasm is growing.

Cat, car, girlfriend in that order. And who the girlfriend is tends to change each weekend.

Could you clarify a bit? Are ya taking about my wife or my girlfriend? ;)

jrdavid68 12-28-2003 03:49 PM

No response from Nostatic? Hmm..

My wife is with me all the way. She has gone along to all the events I have attended and is much more willing to work on the car than I am - I'd rather write a check.

And.. we are both signed up for the Autocross school in Feb. and she is looking forward to getting in to Time Trials too. Yes, she is a keeper! I'm just worried about keeping up with her times once she gets going!

vash 12-28-2003 03:54 PM

my girlfriend doesnt understand, but she lets me do whatever i want with the car. we live together, i just hope she isnt setting the trap, and if/when we get married she changes into a car budget monster! :) my plan is to get her one too. something 73ish. but she wants a 50's mercedes! ragtop!

Rondinone 12-28-2003 03:55 PM

Not only does the wife love the car, she helps work on it. She honed the calipers when I rebuilt the brakes, and helped drop the engine out two weeks ago.

Axeman 12-28-2003 03:58 PM

I don't have one..that's the only way I can afford a Porsche!! :)

uncwSoccer 12-28-2003 04:09 PM

It's amazing how much larger the budget for the P-Cars goes up when single...it just takes a few months... full exhaust system, full paint job...I never would have afforded that ...

My wife supported the 911 purchase, likes my car, doesn't usually complain about the parts purchases, encourages me to go to events but doesn't accompany, and generally treats the whole thing as another weird interest that I've gotta have to be happy. Works for me.

MarkP 12-28-2003 04:12 PM

I probably gotta win this one -

She bought her own race car, went to racing school, got her competition license, drives her Boxster like a mainiac, keeps telling me I should buy a 993 C4S and build a bigger garage.

Plus she's the best looking 50 year old I know...

Thank you Lord, I've been blessed :D

catuck 12-28-2003 04:14 PM

When my wife and I were dating, she talked me into buying the Porsche I had wanted all my life! She doesn't race herself, but comes to every Autocross and runs the computer at the timing station.

She also bought me a 930s wheel from our host for Christmas!!!

I don't have you beat makaio, but perhaps someday a dream garage...

Jim Richards 12-28-2003 04:23 PM

Lu is supportive of my 911 habit. She loves driving the 73E and she loves our spirited Fun Runs through the NoVA countryside. Lu got a taste of driving on the track this past Fall and was all smiles when she returned to the paddock area. Still, I think it's premature to say she'll turn into a track junkie. --> Hey, that's the cue for the NoVA folks to offer up lots of encouragement to her this coming season. :)

Por_sha911 12-28-2003 04:24 PM

I really shouldn't complain. My wife talked me into buying a more expensive car than I was originally looking for. She doesn't understand but does her best to be encouraging.

Let her have the Benz or you'll never hear the end of it: "you got what you wanted but I got..."
When mamma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.

My wife is very supportive of my "habit" and she likes the car, although she doesn't want to drive it. My wife and kids are great and understand that this is the car I've always wanted. I'm blessed to have such a wonderful wife and kids and hope you single guys out there find a woman who is as good to you as my wife is to me. On January 10th, we are celebrating our 17th anniversary.
