How about a Pelican F1 pool?
I am a huge fan of Formula 1 as well as Porsche cars. With all the car and racing nuts hanging around on these forums I think it would be both interesting and fun if we had some sort of pool for the upcoming 18 race season.
This is just a quick first thought. How about selecting four drivers and two teams and one engine? The catch being the drivers or engine cannot be from the two teams selected. I am open to suggestion and would help score throughout the year. Perhaps even Wayne could offer some sort of prize for the winner? It would be worth the price especially so when Ferrari runs away yet again with the WDC and WCC eh Wayne?. ![]() What do you all think? Reg

I think the driver/team/engine matrix will be a little difficult to score.
how about just putting together a dream team. then just add up points scored by the drivers for each race to see who's "team" wins each week. I'll take M. schumaker, Kimi Raikkonen, Juan Pablo Montoya, and Jarno Trulli(expect great things from Renault this year)

I'll take Orange-Arrows.
Oh wait... I think you'd need a handicapped pool based on last year's results, so you're betting on a team/driver to do better than they did last year. |

Alan
I think that perhaps we'd have too many people with the same combinations. It could be some fun if we had say 30 or more participants with bragging rights etc etc... I believe there could be a few dark horses this year that could challenge for points on a regular basis. The handicap system would make things much more complicated. Perhaps we could borrow the rules from some other pool?

I participated in one last year and it was based in the UK. The name was Fantasy Formula One or something like that.
I would much rather participate in a smaller scale one with a few Pelican folks though. |

I think the pool should be tied to last year's results. For each race, the team, engine, and driver start where they did last year. If they move up a spot, they gain a point, drop, and lose one.
The only problem I see is that it penalizes whoever won a particular race last year as they can only lose points...hmmm... |

If they do win two years in a row -- that should be worth some bonus points....
your system would change my thinking on picks -- teams like Jaguar and BAR Honda can move around a lot more than the front runners....

Reg,
I'd like to join up. That is, if you can promise me a sure-fire method to stay awake while watching the races. ![]()

Doug
This first race in Australia should be on at about 7:30 Saturday evening local time. Check tsn.ca for their schedule. I'll do my best to do all the math for whoever emails me with picks as per my post above. rego@quadro.net .... but it has to be before qualifying on Saturday. Good Luck to all! edit I'll keep quiet on your pics, only post the total points.

It won't be an interesting season, if the practice session times for Australia are anything to go by.
Schumacher did a 1m:24.718s. You can't compete with that. Ferrari looks to be too far ahead. I hope I am wrong.
