It makes me wonder about the sanity of the kook-ass, paranoid, right wing wack-jobs who put together those web sites.

You'd think that by now they could come up w/ some credible evidence of these crimes; do they need more time? Think another decade would do it?

I'm sorry, but the families of the casualties from the ongoing "Haliburton war" don't need a kook-ass web site to know how their loved ones died.

The reason people have a problem with mispronounciation is that, rather like poor spelling and grammar in a forum post, it implies something about the speaker/writer (true or not).

This is made worse when listening to politicians as, IMO, they speak a lot without saying anything.

Quick tangent: "See, free nations are peaceful nations. Free nations don't attack each other. Free nations don't develop weapons of mass destruction." —George W. Bush, Milwaukee, Wis., Oct. 3, 2003

If he really said this, I hope it has been taken way out of context...

..checking...checking... here it is (from CNN website):

Quote:
Bush Speaks in Milwaukee

Aired October 3, 2003 - 11:44 ET

THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.

LEON HARRIS, CNN ANCHOR: We'll step away from these comments here by Dr. David Kay, because President Bush, in Milwaukee, is also speaking about weapons of mass destruction right now.
(JOINED IN PROGRESS)

GEORGE W. BUSH, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES: We have more work to do in Iraq.

A free Iraq, a peaceful Iraq will help change an area of the world that needs peace and freedom.

A peaceful Iraq and a free Iraq is part of our campaign to rid the world of terror.

And that's why the thugs in Iraq still resist us, because they can't stand the thought of free societies. They understand what freedom means. See, free nations are peaceful nations. Free nations don't attack each other. Free nations don't develop weapons of mass destruction.

There will be a free and peaceful Iraq. What's taking place in Iraq is the evolution of a society which will be democratic in nature, a society in which the people are better off.

I met with Bernie Kerik this morning in the Oval Office. He was a former police commissioner in New York City. He was charged with going to Baghdad to help the Iraqis develop a police force. When he got there, there was no police force. The place was in shambles, and in a very quick period of time -- remember, we've been there for about four months plus -- he helped develop a police force. Over 37,000 Iraqis now are patrolling the streets of Baghdad to make it a safer place.

The reason I bring this up is we work hard to bring the thugs and terrorists to justice in Baghdad. We'd rather fight them there than in our own streets.

But eventually Iraq will be safe and secure because the Iraqi people have made the decision to live a peaceful and free life. And it's happening. It's happening every day. We will stay the course. We will not be intimidated by thugs who are trying to create fear and the conditions for us to remove.

A free Iraq is essential to making sure that America and future generations of America are able to live in peace and freedom.

HARRIS: President Bush remarks there in Milwaukee, seeming to go well in line with what we were hearing coming out of Washington. We heard Senator Levin and Senator John Warner there talking with Dr. David Kay, the man who was responsible for the search for any illicit weapons programs Saddam Hussein might have had, but we did hear from the senators after getting a briefing from Dr. Kay this morning, is that they believe that he has found significant evidence that Saddam Hussein, right up to the beginning of the war, was in violation of U.N. sanctions, and he believes he has confirmation of that. He also says that he received information from Iraqis who are now in custody that there is reason to expect greater cooperation with the search for weapons of mass destruction.
Sorry, but Bush (or his speech writing team) is treading the fine line of "idiot" there - I could drive a truck through the hole in his logic.

Interesting that "dumb" Bush has a thousand times more integrity and vision than his his lying, groping Rhodes-Scholar predecessor Clinton, who had to take an opinion pole before he could decide what to do.

See, this can go on forever both ways.

Integrity??? Just compare last year's State of the Union to this years. Last year Bush had all kinds of evidence of WMD, even listing how many pounds and gallons they had discovered, this year he mentions "weapons related activities."

I disliked Clinton, but I don't think he ever created such a lie as to send 500 US soldiers to their death nor create terrible ill will around the world.

Furthermore, you have to pity Bush. Regardless of whatever cr*p came out of Clinton's mouth, it's impossible for Bush to match Clinton' oratory skills.

"Maroons" is kind of an inside joke around the Pelican world, right up there with, "My tow truck driver has 2 free Porsches for me", and "All your morons/maroons belong to us", etc....

Left Wing Weenies keep talking about WMD. The facts are: We know Iraq had WMD because they gassed many thousands of Kurds. Iraq was commanded by the UN to produce evidence that they had destroyed their WMD's. They did not after many chances were given, so we attacked. Left wing weenies aren't used to leaders who actually hold tyrants accountable. They would prefer to blow up milk factories in the Sudan as a "show of strength" instead of outright kicking their butts. Next, you end up with a 9/11 incident. I feel better with Bush in the White House. That's why he'll win in November.

Left Wing Weenie here.

Iraq was commanded by the UN to produce evidence that they had destroyed their WMD's. They did not after many chances were given, so we attacked.

UN doesn't equal your "we".

Next, you end up with a 9/11 incident.

Uh huh. This is EXACTLY the dodgy, but emotive, logic exploited by Bush et al in whipping up the US public's fervour to support the invasion of Iraq.

Left wing weenies aren't used to leaders who actually hold tyrants accountable.

Basically, if invading another country on a potentially half-assed basis is "holding tyrants accountable" then I can assure you that left wing weenies dont want a leader who holds tyrants accountable.

If he does get re-elected, (and I hope to God that you are wrong for the sake of the world), it will be due to a lot of voters' feelings, as opposed to a more rational apraisal of his policies and decisions.

If after 3 years of this maroon, and the best you can do is call his critics "weenies"?

Great.

Actually, it was "nattering nabob of negativism".

I miss that guy. Those were the good old days when right-wingers didn't try to polish themselves up as "compassionate".

IMHO, college students that take courses on Marxism and socialism ought to be banned from voting: sure, it works in theory, but in reality, well, that's a different story!

Bleeding heart liberal left-wing democrats love to point out how cruel Bush's administration was in 'starting' the war in Afganistan and Iraq. (Is that better than calling 'em "left wing weenies?!?!")

Funny, I don't recall Mr. Bush authorizing the use of two civilian aircraft to target a public building in Afganistan. Also, it wasn't Bush who attacked Kuwait a few years back, and deliberately attempted genocide on their very own citizens, and had WMD operations going on when told by the world not to do so!

In theory, socialism works. In theory, war can be avoided. Unfortunately, too often, theory and reality do not mix.

What other educational backgrounds would you like to see as disqualification for voting rights? An interesting premise, but there's got to be more societal groups, in your humble opinion, that should be denied the right to vote. Com'on, tell us...

The reason I call left-wingers "weenies" is because I sincerely believe them to be cowards. They think that appeasement will solve conflicts with tyrants. (Look up "Neville Chamberlain".)
To be "polite", I will just say "left-wingers" in the future. Left-wingers can't debate with logic but rather with emotion only or with hollywood-style conspiracy theories.
For example: Calling the war in Iraq "The Haliburton War" -
Supposed conversation:
Cheney: George - Let's go to war in Iraq. Let's tear the place up so we can pay my former company to rebuild it.
Bush: Sure, Whatever you say. We can make up a bunch of lies why we're really attacking.

That kind of idiotic crap.
Would be great for a Hollywood movie. If you have direct evidence, then post it. That's why you get really frustrated in a debate and start throwing out words like "Nazi". When you lose a debate on sheer logic, it makes you mad, so you start screaming "nazi". That's when people blow you off and why democrats will lose the November election.
