Try looking at realtor.com for Grosse Pointe or Birmingham, Michigan. $300K gets you jack$hit. (or you can look at Troy, Rochester, Bloomfield Hills, etc., etc.....you can get nice homes for decent prices, but you've got to live an hour from anything urban...) |

Why'd you move to Vegas anyway? I mean, aside from whatever taxes could be saved in LV, there's so much better-bang-for-the- buck real estate in other places throughout the US.
Hell, I'd move to Costa Rica if I had 600K to blow. I'd buy a whole town and have virgins set at my feet.

LV has 6000 people a month coming here, with no end in sight. CA might very well implode, lots of businesses are relocating to NV. The Dems have raped CA, virtually killed the Golden Goose. Lots of people love it here because there isn't any white stuff on the ground during the winter.
As far as style goes LV looks to LA for it's direction. As Detroit and Chicago looks to NYC. It is kind of vapid here. Home design in CA etc goes through cycles in the 50's and 60's it was the Ranch style sprawling single story. In the 70's it was the CA Spanish/ Mexican with the Red tile Roofs, in the 80's and 90's it switched to a Italian/French Med look. Today it has gone to Spanish revival of the 20's, Med revival of the 20's...Wallace Nef.. Prairie School .. FL Wright. I look at floor plan, when I buy a home. I personally like the Spanish revival of the 20's. Question I have to ask myself is will it age well, is the design timless or just trendy?

Hardly the boonies, got every conceivable big box store and chain restaurant about 8-10 miles away. Most of the homes in the immediate vicinty are $500k+. I'm kinda slummin' it ..... I am in Detroit metro on business 3 days a week and am very familiar with the ridiculous real estate values down there. My house on a somewhat equivilant 2 acre lot (are there ANY 2 acre lots next to a ski resort and golf course there? doubtful) would be well over $1,000,000 down there!

Curt, I shudder to think what your property would cost if it was located in the DC metro area, say in a 'burb such as McLean or Great Falls.

Decker???????????? OK, that's it! You're not going to try to pin me with the Oklahoma City bombing! That's where Tim McVay and his cohorts practiced igniting fertilizer ....... besides, $350K there would likely buy the general store, the fillin station and all 50 double-wides .......

You guys want to hear crazy house prices, come to Boston. A house went up next to me on a 1/2 acre lot. Pref fab and put together so poorly I couldn't believe it. It sold for 600K 2600sf...Yikes...and unlike our friends in CA, we have to pay big $$$$ to heat houses out here...

Tabs..I got a lawn on my back yard. That is where most Tucsonans have their "green". The fronts in where we put the low maintenance landscape rock and cactus....Next time you are in the Tucson area, go up the mountains. You want green? And snow? Got it all in an 18 mile radius from my adobe hacienda.
Nice house in Michigan. But, I am a transplant from the great rustbelt. Won't go back unless it is a family emergency. Have had it with ice, snow, sleet, and the COLD!! I wouldn't trade my house out here for a 300k unit anywhere in the North. I can work outside year round.
