When I made the ill-conceived decision to rebuild my 915 tranny, my first question on this board was "What is a floor jack?" And instead of being called "stoopid" - accurate though it may have been at the time - everyone jumped in and helped me make the project a 100% success. So the sincere answer to your question: Why sooo many stoopid questions? is...because there are soooo many goooood aaaaaanswers...

Anybody who wants a good laugh should read Janus' guide in his signature. Now that's funny with pure Porsche content. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1076958481.gif

Both stupid questions and stupid answers are in the eye of the beholder. It would be stupid to not ask a question before doing something you don't know how to do or if what you are doing might cause problems. This board is about asking questions from those who have already been through what you are going through at the moment. Thereby helping you not make the same stupid mistakes made by others.

I say ask any question. Even those that I may find "stupid", I usually at least find them entertaining.

Well, thanks for picking me. I feel so honored.

If you read the repsonses, there is some pretty good opinions/info. As far as your complaints, how exactly will sitting in a seat on a showroom floor (which I did btw) for 2 minutes give me significant insight into how the seat will feel on a 1 hour drive? Sure, everybody is different, but it is useful to get input from people who have done the experiment, or those who have had back pain. And my ht/wt were in the thread. Sorry you don't find that stimulating or "technical" reading. Then again, I'm not exactly the mechanical fountain of knowledge here...more like comic relief.

But you're right that your thread (http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/139757-taking-height-out-your-seats-question.html) is a perfect example of the perfect question, and should be applauded. Rewarded in fact. We should all send you a check, or perhaps people will chip in to buy a plaque, honoring you, BRCarrera32, as the model Pelican...a person to be honored and admired...a goal towards which we should all aspire. Man, I wish I could be more like you...

Well, actually I was thinking of your post, but wasn't going to call you out by name or provide a link...I apologize that you've taken offense. You have a valid point to your comments.

So, see ya round' guys...

This picture does not truly reflect LeLand's true beauty, or that of his brother for that matter.

PS I cannot find the radiator cap on my 964-will this affect value if I don't have one, and how much are they?

Check this one out.......

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/148802-powercoated-lug-nuts.html

Maybe its 96 ft-lbs on the inside wheels and 94 ft-lbs on the outside wheels like NASCAR?

Which wheels are the inside wheels anyway?

I think I'll go powder coat my master cylinder casting!! :)

All part of my plot to take over the world. Is it working yet?

I knew it.

Decolliber 02-16-2004 11:44 AM

In my early months of 911 ownership I posted a question about how to tell if my seats are leather. Leland Pate offered to sell me his patented leather detector kit. Another helpful suggestion was to put a lighted match next to the seat: if it melts, its vinyl. I have been fairly careful with my questions since then.

singpilot 02-16-2004 12:17 PM

Where else but here could you have obtained the insightful, experience-based education that you got from those answers?

Maybe in a bar... but the tab could be spent far more wisely, IMHO.

Why read a thread that contains a stupid title?

"What are you, stupid?"--Rude Boy (U.D.S.):)
