Why sooo many stoopid questions on "technical" forum?

Why all these "technical" questions recently??

What is my car worth?
What is somebody elses car worth that I saw on some stoopid board?
What is my car worth if I polish my Fuchs?
What is the best wax for my 911?
What is the best tires if I only drive on alternate weekends in summer months?
I made 12 mods, how much more horsepower do I have?
Is my car worth more if I don't drive it and paint my heat exchangers?
How do I know if I have an oil leak and is it bad?
What is this wire hanging down? Its kinda brown.
What's the best shop lift for my car.
How much are my Fuchs worth? They only have a little curb rash.
What is the best way to clean the wheel wells?
How do I clean old adhesive off the back wall of my engine bay behind the those CIS things? (throttle body and fuel distributor).
What is the best color to paint my fan to increase value?
Can I paint my exhaust with barbecue paint from Sears?
Should I drive my car if its under 40F?
Is it bad to start my car in the garage if I haven't driven it in three weeks? (No stoopid, back it out first??)

Did I miss many more "technical" questions? :)

Gotta admit this is also a stupid question!

The only real stupid question is the one that you don't ask!

I have a tendency to ignore stupid questions except for this one.

a technicality question: why did you ask a question about people asking stupid questions on a technical board?

Now thiat is a stupid question .

Sorry I just felt like having a little fun with the stupid question thread.

"There's a quart of oil on the floor under my car.
Is there something wrong?"

Most of these so-called "stupid" questions have all been unanswered in each of our minds at one time.

We add new members, and new owners, daily. These questions, no matter how insignificant, do them a service.

Keep them coming.

I don't think they are stupid to the person asking. I remember when I asked how to take the cam nut off and had someone help me out. I might think that it is really easy now since I've rebuilt 2 motors, but at the time it was baffling me. Who would have thought to just get the impact wrench out

There are no stupid questions, just stupid comments (like yours).

brawlins 02-16-2004 08:25 AM

I came into this forum with very limited mechanical ability. This forum (and some projects I am working on with a friend) have greatly increased that ability. (And I still have a long way to go.)

If this board gets so snobby that newbies are intimidated away from asking questions, then it will dry up and die.

So, why don't you quit criticizing? (Or is that a stupid question, too?)

ok...I admit it. I've posted all the stupid questions. Multiple personalities. I even wear disguises: when I post as zanick, I carry a blowdryer, when I post as tabs I make sure to hold my pinky out while sipping cappuchino, and when I post as Tyson, I have dreams of a pink car in my head.

All part of my plot to take over the world. Is it working yet?

I agree! How about this really stupid non-tech question by some really stupid guy named tsuter (you might want to check out your previous posts before you become a member of the internet police):

I was the guy that posted the "stupid" question about the brown wire.

Firstly I had hoped that another owner might post back saying "Hey don't worry dude, they all have that" Or "that is only for cars with A/C" etc etc.

As it happened I did get some responses but it was pointed out that photos of the offending wire might help people to figure out what the wire is for. Unfortunately I have not had a chance to a)take photos and B) I have nowhere to host the said photos.

Please explain to me why my question was STUPID.

TIA and thanks to the members of this board for being so helpful. This is a great place and I would hope that I do not need to have an engineering diploma before I felt confident enough to raise a question.

Mark

Can I backdate my 964 with a 2.0T engine?

motion 02-16-2004 08:38 AM

Dude, if everyone called my questions stoopid (most of them really are), I wouldn't show my clown-a$$ mug around here and the board would lose another stoopid member. How fun would that be?

tsuter 02-16-2004 08:39 AM

OK OK the wire question is OK with information like the physical location., ie., rear fender well by bumper etc. so it can be identified as the rear fog light option.

And how to remove cam nuts and tricks for this is certainly technical OK.

But....

"I just bought my SC and I've already "chipped" it. What kind of mod should I do next"

????????

Natchamp 02-16-2004 08:39 AM

The thread about smokers and swerving to avoid a cigerette butt did it for me. "will my car blow up if I run over a cigerette butt?"

PAALEEEZE!!

Leland Pate 02-16-2004 08:41 AM

no no Mark,

...it has happened. It is just another coverup by the Tobacco industry.
