Def get your stuff....then send it to Vic Skirmants of 356 enterprises. Vic is a founding member and perm trustee of the 356 Registry and specializes in rebuilding 356 trannies and guarantees them for life I believe. Hes done hundreds of them. My Skirmants rebuilt tranny has run like clockwork from day one.

What else does he have? Maybe we can send a whole pelican herd over and have an intervention.

Send some scotch over first? Nothing like a drunk on coke. I've sen that movie.

I think I would just take enough freinds to get the job done and start loading up. Don't call the cops unless something isn't working, they might halt the whole process. While you're there, see what he wants to sell to help his habit. Leaving a little money behind always soothes the deal.

Can you see a full SnapOn rollaway for a grand?

And, I think I'd leave the bunny ears AND the gun home on this one.

Get you stuff..but walk softly. Do not aggravate the situation by throwing in emotion, big friends, a peacemaker and Sipowitz. You and this person have obviously had a good association at some point. Leverage that past good association to get your stuff peacefully. Even if he escalates the situation you should still try to defuse it/him. Last I heard, you cannot remove something from someones shop without their permission. If you take it and can't prove its yours or he simply says that the agreed consideration was not met, you are in trouble. Do not undermine your strong legal position in case it is needed in the future.

I gotta vote for the quick, surgical, & overwhelming force idea ASAP. He'll understand if he ever comes out of the nosedive. Nothing consumes cash faster than a big ole crack binge, the only thing close is a DIY, while I'm in there, project on the 911. I've got the parts jones bad.

I used to be a bouncer at Joe's on state street and still know some of the guys up there, i am sure they would be cool with showing up and insuring your safety.

Seen that movie? I wrote the screen play, directed, starred, and also was key grip. I did have some help gaffing though. But then that dude wanted to rip me off. Can you imagine? I know he was sitting there...surrounded by gaffer's tape...just waiting until I fell asleep so he could take my stuff. Well I showed him. When he fell asleep I taped him up. Man that stuff is strong. In fact, I wonder if it would hold these engine parts together? Hmmm....

Oh, and then there was the time I fell asleep in the shower with the water running and slid down covering the drain. Boy, was my g/f-roomate pissed about that one. Then the other time when my buddy pulled the clip from his 9mm, and my other buddy was fooling around with it while I was chopping. He forgot there was one in the chamber. Damn thing went right into the waterbed, about a foot from where I was sitting. That sucked.

Did I mention he was trying to steal my stuff?

MikeZ, I just read this whole thread and then your first post again; it sounds like you have some kind of history w/ the guy, right? If so, you probably know how to handle the situation better than the rest of us giving advice from afar, however well meaning. Is he a reasonable guy? Is he a friend or just a casual aquaintence?

I definitely agree that just showing up w/ a truck/flatbed/whatever is a good idea, if you legitimately owe the guy any $$ for work that he has done settle up and move on. Doesn't have to be a big deal, just go get your car. It's your car.

Cool

state sales tax enforcers in S Fla. have the red tape enclosure routine down to a "quickie" in boat yards.
if the mechanics are out of the shop they may not see their tools for months. Maybe because the blockade runners know very little english when they shop for transportation with their paper bags filled with cash? They say "Cigarette" & "Keifer prop"
