Tim,
In the image which shows the door, note the window frame is either distorted or missing. You are left with the door skin wrapped around the tree at about normal height. The bark removed further up on the tree was almost certainly done by the side glass and sheet metal of the roof as it was sheared by the front half and rear half parting company on either side of the tree.
Regarding several comments about pine needles: There would have been considerable "fallout" from the trees impacted, as evidenced by the whole branches and twigs which litter the site. Around where the engine came to rest, you can see the scuff marks of its passage over the needles.
As for the rest of the site, I suspect, from the lack of grass, the ground might be very dry and hard. Just a guess though.
Les

All fluids were aerosoled and the bodies left the vehicle at impact. You can see that the road is straight is the last pictures but in the first couple you see the the road has a right bend to it...perhaps they realized that they were going too fast for the turn and hit the brakes, turned and brought the rear end around...or just swerved to miss something...or were on drugs, or drunk. Or maybe he was getting a hummer and lost control...what? It could happen.
