It really blows me away that you have three pages of responses to your question about what to name the cat. Amazing.

I like the idea of waiting till the cat is home and letting the name come naturally. See, in our house, when Nickolis came to live with us (black tabby) we didn't wait and named him, well, Nickolis. I later realized his true name (after meowing in his 200 dB meow at 5:00 AM) is "You Stupid Cat". When my daughter is around (her cat) I soften that to "Dumb Cat".
