ABC calls Kerry on lying about medals

Last week, they caught him lying about not owning an SUV on "Earth Day"...today they nailed him on national TV for lying about his throwing away his medals. He just can't seem to tell the truth.

I haven't yet heard a reason people will vote FOR Kerry. What I hear are people that will vote against President Bush.

my vote for kerry will be only to get bush removed. another liar getting oral in the oval office is better than war i'm thinking. additionally by the time bush is run the economy should be back on track and kerry can take all the credit. funny how these things work

You know, I'll have to update that bumper sticker to say

"When Kerry lied, nobody died."

Yep. Though with Kerrys move to the middle (re war) it would seem better for the left to vote Nader.

I'm not say that because I think Nader will throw the election, but because, as Cam pointed out a while back, when Bush wins, in the absence of any anti-war vote, he will REALLY feel enabled to go warring.

"...when Bush wins, in the absence of any anti-war vote, he will REALLY feel enabled to go warring."

Remember, in Bush's mind it's not the voters, it's God who gave him the presidency. Apparently God really knows how to wrangle chads.

IOW, he can't really feel more 'enabled' than he does now. All he can feel is that he won't need public support, since he will not need to run again.

Yeah, *that* really was more to Cams point; though I'm just responding to the pragmatics of "what to do about it."

Personally, I would like to see a bit of "temper" come out of this election. Both Bush and Kerry are part of the "skull &bones secret society" ooooohhhhhh But more importantly, they are both rather arrogant. Our having a larger third party presence cant hurt.

That's an interesting take on Bush, I was just reading a review of Woodward's book this weekend that talked about a somewhat unique aspect to his (Bush's) personality: He is absolutely w/o self doubt or introspection of any kind, he considers these weaknesses. Combined w/ faith-based intelligence before the war and his own private talks w/ his God, (a real warmonger of a God if there ever was), there was basically no chance for anyone w/ an opposing view to get a listen in his cabinet.

Obviously these traits are open to interpretation, some of his supporters consider them a sign of a real "take charge", macho Texan kind of a guy, just what the world needs right now. The rest of us consider him a dangerous force w/ really questionable motives and brain power.

Most leaders, even brilliant ones, are surrounded by other strong personalities debating fiercely over major policy, especially going to war. Not this president. I am absolutely convinced now that his Dad, if allowed a powerful voice, would not have co-signed the events leading up to the current situation.

Kerry? A political opportunist. Why do we always have choices like George Bush's drunken idiot son or Al "couldn't sell ******* in a logging camp" Gore?? And now Kerry? Sheesh! Why can't McCain or even Edwards make the final cut?

I'm not sure why conservatives keep harping on the whole "honor-integrity-moral-uprightness" routine. The last administration clearly had moral issues that were absolutely irreconcilable -- between the pathological liar VP and the sexually uncontrollable Prez, it would seem like somebody would raise a flag. But in retrospect, the only people who care are us wacko-right-wing-Bible thumpers. So a new election comes around, and the liberals produce a candidate who can't seem to keep his story straight, so the conservatives hop on the "He has no integrity" wagon, and the liberals come back with "Who cares, at least he's not ."

Funny thing is I'm too young to have payed attention to too many elections, but it's really starting to look familiar already...

my view is Bush is over compensating to hide a deep desire to be a nice guy.

If you look at his pre-9/11 stance compared to his post-9/11 stance. . . .and more importantly the transition. What I saw was a man completely caught off-guard, realizing he would have to be a hard-nosed leader, and bring some big-assed fight to the terrorist threat.

So, now, if he gets too much praise for warring, he will conclude 'hey, this war really pleases people.' (potentially . . Its hard to say. . .like you said; "open to interpretation" . . ah, crap, agreeing with you, this has got to stop. . .something must be wrong with me)

I don't think Kerry was supposed to be "the one". Dean was surrounded by primary candidates who stood zero serious chance making Dean the obvious choice when compared to the competition. This is old school politics. However, the Dem's didn't plan on Dean blowing up like he did so now they are stuck with Kerry who is a horrible choice.

Miller, Bayh, or Ford would have been much better choices even over Dean. The Dems will lose this election and Kerry is the sacrificial donkey but it does set the libs up for a nice tough race in 2008. The question for both sides is who?

I used to think Giuliani/Rice but am not so sure about Rice. I really don't want to see Jeb Bush. I am a hard core Republican, but enough already. We need some new folks.

zactly. Sad state of affairs...but I think Kerry is the lesser of two evils.

well, except for me. damn, is it too late for a write-in campaign? In the spirit of ecuminism, I propose the following people for my cabinet:

vp: Island911 - I need someone to say "no" when I say "yes" and vice-versa

sec of defense: speeder - yes he's a liberal, but he owns a Glock

sec of state: overpaidslacker. He'll confuse everybody with big words and stuff

minister of information: flintstone. He will keep the media in-line.

sec of compassion: Superman, although we have to make sure he doesn't extend the practice to gov workers

sec of conspiracy: 350hp. Black ops is watching.

sec of culture: Aurel. The French have to be good for something

that's all for now...need more cabinet posts...

Can we have a Secretary of Speed? I nominate Jack Olsen, obviously. Ooh, or maybe Tyson?

Nostatic,

You'll need an entirely separate backup administration living under Mt. Rushmore for when those guys kill each other

I actually felt sorry for Kerry when they played that clip that showed he was lying...First time I have seen an expression on his face....and it was "oh *****)....then he paniced and started trying to change the subject by talking about Bush's "deserter" record.....something he had said he would not do again (another lie). Poor guy!

I must admit I was shocked to see this exposed by the mainstream media (ABC)...who also exposed the graft in the "oil for food program."

Mark, seeing as I know (I think) you're a republican/conservative, I know what you meant. I couldn't agree more

To stay on topic, this is what I have been saying about Kerry the whole time. This guy will say/do anything! It is sad, we should expect more from the office, on both sides. If Kerry were to win it would signify that my worries have come true...nobody cares about integrity anymore

len, wait until they fund a few projects that I know are applying, *then* push them off the cliff.

I always thought of Mark as more of a "Minister of Water Fowl" type.

Cam can be ambassador to New Zealand. Bill can be Minister of Surf. In fact, surfing will become one of the new state-sponsored religions, along with 911s and microbrew.
