Christmas eve...
The gingerbread house, the sparkling wine inside  The farolitos in the snow outside  The neighborhood shuts off the streetlights for Xmas eve. Out go the little lunchbags of sand and candles. We moved in 18 mo ago and, after graciously giving us a pie and a bottle of wine, the neighbors started in with the "Let's talk about Christmas Eve..." Pretty, though...

Christmas in NM and all the people trying to copy the tradition, please use the terms correct terms that have been used in SFNM for centuries...
candle-lit paper bags are called farolitos, and the pitchwood bonfires are known as luminarias . Santa Feans venture onto snowy Canyon Road for annual Farolito Walk - The Santa Fe New Mexican
