What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul!

Wow. So few "heroes" really live up to the hype.

Armstrong is an inspriation.

He is one outstanding athelete, and a hellava roll model. My hat is off to him. The bicyclist here have pretty much taken over the roads. If he wins another Tour de France, I'm sure Austin will designate the left hand lanes of IH35 as bicycles only.

Very cool commercial. Lance is superhuman. The exposure for cycling is good.

Today, I had a UPS guy tailing me to check my speed. I chucked the big ring up. I had a good tailwind, and he pulls up and yells,"35 mph!" I was stoked.

BTW, I read an article about Lance a few weeks ago. A scientist spouted off figures regarding the calories burned/base metabolic rate. A pro cyclist is around 4.5, the highest of any athlete. There are only three animals in the world with a higher figure (some obscure bird, and a few small rodents, I think). A pro cyclist burns 10k+ calories per day. Can you imagine their evening meals?

Jurgen, you should try doing the same behind the UPS guy - get him to increase his speed progressively... you should be able to crack 40mph easy if you stay in close behind.

I like this one - Lance attacking after falling in the TdF - effectively this is the moment he "won" the Tour (in winning this stage).

I wish there was a way to convey the sheer power and endurance of those guys climbing the mountain.

Cam, I didn't know what the UPS guy was doing until he pulled alongside me. I heard his diesel rumbling next to me, and my brain was telling my legs to pedal faster to get out of his way. In a balls to the wall sprint, I think I could hit 50 mph, but I wouldn't hold it for very long (maybe 0.1 sec while falling off a cliff) . I'll do a massive sprint tomorrow to see what's possible. I'm not built for acceleration.

You been riding much?

I remember that race soo vividly, right down to what I was wearing and eating as I watched it live. It still gives me goosebumps when I think about it.

If he wins this year, he'll hold the record for consecutive wins.

Goo Lance go!

He'll just plain hold the record - a few other guys have done 5, but no-one has made 6...

Jurgen - I haven't ridden that much, as my knee is still troubling me unfortunately. I'm getting in just enough to make my fitness decline only slowly

I can only do about 35-36mph in a sprint on the flat - I really hit a wall. I have, however, done a pretty easy almost 40mph behind a bus (on the flat). The wind resistance makes a hell of a difference.

You should read "It's Not About the Bike" - his auto bio. I couldn't put it down. It was a one-sitting book, and that was after only ONE TDF win.

Yeah, just awesome. And now he's dating Sheryl Crow.
I saw him beat our guy twice--it was a heartbreak, but entirely deserved.
