I can handle 'em, as long as I don't have to look at guys' handles.

Super,
I'm glad you enjoy it so much. That's what's important.

Troy, we are grateful for the hospitality (or perhaps just tolerance) of the natives. Thanks. Yes, we enjoy our Fair very very much and hope to be good citizens and neighbors.

Oh, I nearly but not quite mentioned that, also in my camp complex of around a half-dozen tents, another guy is also a Drug Test Coordinator. Imagine the odds...two of us in the same camp. He says he gets randomly selected for testing right after each Fair. Again, imagine the (random) odds. He works with our medical staff. Yes, we have a real medical staff with real doctors and real nurses.

We have a fire crew. We even have a Navy. We have a solar powered bubble machine. We have a human-powered calliope. We have a dragon that is probably 150 feet long. Seven or eight performing stages. A library. All of this occurs in the woods.

Some of you would absolutely hate it (some of the guys have long hair and beards).

I imagine some of the gals have long hair and beards, too. No weirder than St. Mark's Place in the Village.

Ahhh the Fairies in the Woodlands awake and partake of the nectar of the Moon...dance to the music of the rustling trees branchs. exhault under the star studded heavens and as the sunrises fall into the slumber of innocent child.

Supe, dancing naked around a fire at night seems very...Pagan; like the most cliche pagan/animist/satanic image imaginable. May just be the Catholic upbringing in me -- I have no idea, for example, what those screwy Episcopalians do when the sun goes down; and the Methodists (shudder) I don't even want to think about that. The only time I've ever danced naked "around" a fire is when I dropped a lit cigarette in bed.

Hey Tabs. Thanks for needling Mul today, I smiled. But you know, the counterfeit quote thing was funnier a couple of days ago. You want to be alone here with Mul. Okay then.......

I'll take that under advisement, Slacker (if that is your real name). I'm and ex-altar boy, current Eucharistic minister, CCD teacher, the whole enchelada. When I see naked hippie chicks dancing with fire at night, it's not the fire I'm worshipping. Really, I get no lascivious pleasure whatsoever. You're not buying this are you? Ummmm, I'm an amateur anthropologist particularly interested in ancient dancing rituals. No that's not going to work either. Actually I don't look, I just listen to the drum beats.

Aw, I give up.

I've always considered ex-altar boy to be a badge of honor.

Oh, the horror.

Yes, another ex-altar boy.

In the leadoff post here, I called this a christian community and that's not correct. Christians call it a pagan community, which is (regrettably) more accurate. But I continue to think it's odd that it is the pagans who actually practice the great social experiment that Jesus outlined for our corporeal behavior.

Anyhoo, some folks wanted to see pictures and although I have no photos of my personal costumery, I did run across this bunch of photos.

BEWARE: Conservatives MAY NOT view these pictures. For your own safety. You have been warned. Liberals will understand my love for this magical community, but you will not.

Click on the link (hope it works) and page down to Oregon Country Fair.

Oh, like you'd pass up the opportunity to roll around in the mud with a little earth day hottie...

Anyway Jim, reminds me of the Renaissance Fair I'd go to as a kid. Stuff was fun, but the meat on a stick -- um...questionable.

I may have missed it, but the pics of the "ladies" I saw have caused certain parts of me to crawl back inside for cover(it'll come back out right?).
