Question How to link new thread to old thread?

How do you link an old thread to a newer thread? I would like to reference a particular thread. Any help would be appreciated.

easy.
Go to the old thread
copy the web address from your browser
go to the new thread
insert a link to the old thread with the web site that you just copied

e.g. the link for this thread is:
How to link new thread to old thread?
and if you made it a shortened / renamed link it would look like this
new link
