Yanker strikes again!

Overpaid Slacker 07-22-2004 10:16 AM

For a long, long while Subaru has been targeting lesbians. Very effectively, I might add. Next time you see a woman driving a Subaru, odds are she has a "Pete Rose" haircut and could snap you like a twig.

ronin 07-22-2004 10:18 AM

umm, yeah. like that whole "pitcher, catcher" thing

osidak 07-22-2004 10:23 AM

Well last I checked I wasn't gay. I love our Outback and may well buy a STi as my next car (daily driver). My wife is not gay either and she uses the Outback as her daily and she loves it.

island911 07-22-2004 10:24 AM

so Yanker, do the subaru headrests also have big fat thigh-supports?

Rot 911 07-22-2004 10:25 AM

I'm starting to wonder if Yanker is a bit of a homophobe?

island911 07-22-2004 10:37 AM

yeah, Yanker reminds me of that guy in that movie "American Beauty" . .Colonel Frank Fitts . .protests (a bit too much) that his son is "one of those damn ******s."

island911 07-22-2004 10:41 AM

Yeah, incongruity; is that it?

I think you just can't get enough of Mul's attention.http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/.../smileysex.gif

widebody911 07-22-2004 10:43 AM

I'm a lesbian but I don't drive a Subaru - what's wrong with me?

djmcmath 07-22-2004 10:45 AM

Island, where did you find that smiley -- that's outstanding!

Mulholland 07-22-2004 10:48 AM

Another hit piece on me...I am so flattered sweetums...kiss kiss

jyl 07-22-2004 10:48 AM

It is believed in the gay community that the Subaru Forester marketing is targeted to lesbians while the Subaru Outback is targeted to gay guys. So I was told about two years ago by a friend who is gay, lives in San Francisco, and works in advertising - he seemed like a credible source. And you do tend to see a lot of Subarus with the rainbow sticker.

I like the Forester and have sometimes thought of buying one - wish it had the WRX motor, though.

As for gay bashing, I despise those who engage in it. I know lots of gay people, they work hard, pay taxes, mow their yards, raise their kids, etc just like everyone else. In urban California you tend to meet a lot of gay people in daily life and the whole idea of thinking they are somehow bad or weird or dangerous becomes rather laughable. I hadn't realized Mul was a gay basher - since he's on my Ignore list, I have no idea what he's saying nowadays - but if that is true it is really too bad.

osidak 07-22-2004 10:52 AM

Look at the Forester XT. Turbo Charged 2.5 makes 250 hp.

RallyJon 07-22-2004 10:53 AM

Yet Subaru ditched Martina and Paul Hogan (that raging queen) for Lance Armstrong. Have to ask Sheryl Crow if Lance enjoys the bicycle saddle a little too much.

Not that there's anything wrong with that. :D

Yanker911 starts a thread on Gays, linked to Subaru's, linked to Mul. . and what you get out of that is that Mul is a gay basher?

While I suspect Mul has opinions about those who feel they are german. . I mean gay; he hasn't started any threads on the topic. . .or even any posts that I've seen. (though he does post a lot. . .may have missed something.)

I am not, and to say so or even imply it is just an attempt at character assassination...I have friend's that are gay...Funny spin on tolerance the homosexual agenda has, if you disagree with their ideology you are a "bigot" "homophobe" and "intolerant", but in the process they are bigots, heterophobic and intolerant.

Tolerance is tolerance only if you agree with liberals, the moment you disagree you are the one who is intolerant.

I was merely trying to point out the incongruity of this union between Mul and his Subaru. It seems that it just might be a personal and religious conflict that this list's biggest gay basher drives a Subaru. He doesn't want his taxes spent on things he doesn't agree with or support. Yet he supports financially a car company that has targeted a group that he abhors.

Um, just because a car company has a marketing campaign to attract a certain demographic does not mean that said company is fully supporting that lifestyle or way of thinking!

Do you really think car companies do things based on what they believe in? HECK NO! They do things TO MAKE MONEY! As some of you know, I work for a car company. (US Corp. headquarters) Right now, the 'nitche markets' are hot in the luxo car market. These nitch areas include minorities (Asian & Black) as well as the 'alternative lifestyle' folks. So our company (as well as many other car companies) are developing strategies to sell our product to these markets.

It's not because car companies have all of a sudden decided to embrace an altnerative lifestyle: it's simply that is where the dollars are! Think about it: most gay couples (men and women) and DINK households - dual income, no kids. Most are also pretty affluent. Bottom line: they have $$! In the present economic state, car companies are doing their best to penetrate into markets they traditionally didn't have simply because the traditional 'wells of resources' are beginning to run dry.

To claim that Mull is driving a car made by a company that is 'gay friendly' is simply absurd.

BTW: I drive a Subaru Legacy, and my wife of ten years used to drive a Subaru SVX.

Sorry for the long post,
-Zoltan.

I become more lesbian every time I drive my WRX over unimproved roads. The suspension sure does interesting things to female anatomy.

The old Suzuki Samari was a favorite gay vehicle back in the early '90's ....used to see 'em everywhere with those rainbow stickers on them....

island911 07-22-2004 11:29 AM

Speaking of WRX's. . .has anyone seen the latest Saab knock-off? They completely stole the WRX "styling" (if you can call it that  ) A little AWD turbo thing. Saw it on the dealer lot (I must be Saab curious, or something . . .how do I tell my parents?  )

Just the opposite. It actually is a WRX wagon with a different front fascia.

Z-man 07-22-2004 11:41 AM

The Saab 'pocket rocket' is built on the same platform at the WRX - a cooperation between Saab and Subaru.
-Z.

island911 07-22-2004 11:44 AM

Ah, 'a cooperation between Saab and Subaru." .. .explains a lot. -thanks, guys.

It is a Subaru.....we had one roll by here the other day, Saab badging, but 100% Subaru....even the drive belt says Subaru.

The only thing I could not tell was if the rainbow sticker on the back said Saab or Subaru :rolleyes

ZAMIRZ 07-22-2004 12:44 PM

Type911, maybe it said Saabaru?

haaaaa, thats what I was thinking 1st time I saw one.
Reminds me of the Toyota Corolla & the Geo Prizm back in the late 80's early 90's. Same car, one is just priced $2000 more than the other.

Come to think of it....I've seen a lot of rainbow stickers on those cars too. Porsche needs to get with their marketing people...:D

island911 07-22-2004 12:55 PM

Boxster :D
Is that why the styling guys changed the production version styling. . .all for that subversive "I'm straight, but not Narrow" declaration.

Interesting. Do you call them pillow-biters to their face?

When I was younger I became quite homophobic, mainly due to all the hitchhiking I did. I always thought (as many men do) that when ever I was around a gay man that he was "after me". After my last divorce I decided to do away with my close minded thinking & put my prejudice & bad experience behind me in order to forge a new path. This not only applied to gays, but to any group of people, I had many prejudices & bad experiences that caused me to lump & label people.

I found while being single that gay men are chick magnets. I started hanging out with this one guy & could not believe all the beautiful women that felt challenged to set him straight or bear his children. There were a people that assumed I was gay because I was hanging out with him & am kind of peculiar. I got a kick out of it & don't fret much over what people think about me. Well, after a year or so I became good buddies with one of his good buddies & married her. He was the best man at our wedding.

What I learned over the last 8 years is that I missed out on a lot of rich life experiences because I allowed my mind to become poisoned with resentment & entombed in ignorance. So when some red ass cracks on me about my appearance I think to myself; If not for the grace of God, there go I.

BTW I'm German & Proud Of It!!!

Romans 1:24-32 -- "Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator--who is forever praised. Amen.

Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.

Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them."

Yep, the above description (from 2000 years ago) basically sums up my close proximity understanding of homosexuality.

That said, the Bible makes little distinction between fornicators and homosexuals...It describes they are both sinners and better flee from sexual immorality (homo or heterosexual) because it is deadly to one's soul.
