Ronin, I always bought into the feminist lie too. My bad; thanks for the knowledge update.
As to freight trains and dirt roads, I first thought it would be a compliment -- the train is so attracted to a girl's beauty, it would leave it's tracks! Then I did some hunting and discovered that many consider it an insult; don't know why. Still trying to figure out 4-square dooger -- speeder, wasn't that you that used it? What's it mean? Dan

Got it -- tnx fer the explanation. Now that I know what it means, I'll probably start using it.

I like the one when refering to a nearly impossible situation..."its like herding cats..." so appropriate in so many work type situations....
From city slickers..."I'm happier then a puppy with two peters..."

Which reminds me of another -- I've always enjoyed "colder than the balls on a brass monkey." People at first think I'm a pervert, then I explain the nautical history of the phrase, and they realize that I'm just a Navy-dork.

Dan, that brass monkey line reminds me of my all time favorite television quote.
On one episode of MASH it was extremely cold. As the first colonel entered the tent (the guy before colonel potter, can't remember his name right now) he said " better keep the brass monkeys inside tonight" I don't think he was referring to cannon balls. ![]() |

hahaha, that's awesome! "Better keep the brass monkey inside tonight." I can imagine a salty senior military person saying that, too.
