Cool What I wouldn't give to own this in the '80s...

Remember the days (if you were a kid when this was cool), when you would have sold your soul to the devil himself to own this car?

Even now, I remember when I was 8 years old, on vacation in the USA, sitting in KITT at Universal, talking to some guy who was probably hiding in the bushes with a telephone. Do you guys remember the display? Perched on that decking, with the wheels sitting in the water? Man that car was so cool!

Those were the days...

I was 10yo (it was May '85) and I asked the guy in the bushes with the telephone if it was hot in there.

I then asked how the jet boost worked - my cynicism only lasted about 30 secs before I had a "serious" question.

May '85?? No kidding, I was there at the same time, Cam. I've actually got a diary and some photos from that era. I'll try to scan them in. I had a genuine "Charlie & the Chocolate factory" blond afro then, too.

I was 8, so I kinda believed it for a bit longer...

I wondered about the timing (I know you are approx same age as me). Funny.

I have a photo somewhere of me lifting the A-Team van (in a striped polo shirt). I better check to see if there is a blond 'fro in the background with a "I love Skippy, the Bush Kangaroo" T-Shirt on....

I still want one of those. I loved Knight Rider. For those that watched the show, one of the greatest parts was Super Pursuit Mode (the car reached over 200 mph). Their is a company that builds replicas online but one of the originals must be worth a fortune.

How about the General Lee?

Sanford and Son's pickup?

Actually, I'd rather have Fred's truck - KITT was trite and is a wee bit dated, but an old truck with faded logos is cool forever

You bring up an interesting point, Thom - what other "TV Star" cars would I want to own? Here's my list:

1. The Batmobile.
2. Magnum PI's Ferrari 308GTS.
3. The White & Blue Mustang Cobra from Charlie's Angles.
4. The General Lee.
5. Richie Cunningham's Hot Rod.
6. Fred Flintstone's car.
7. The Wonderbug (From Seals & Kroft kid's show)
8. The Barracuda from "Nash Bridges" (Never saw the show, but I love the car!)
9. The 356 one of the kids had on Beverly Hills, 90210 (again, never watched the show, but I saw the car!)
10. K.I.T.T

Movie cars? Here's my list:
1. The Mustang from Bullitt
2. The 917 from LeMans.
3. The Black 911 Turbo S from Bad Boys
4. The vintage Ferrari from Ferris Bueler's Day Off.
5. Herbie The Love Bug.
6. The Mercury chop top from the movie "The Car."
7. The Back to the Future Delorean (only if it really can travel through time!)
8. Stallone's Hod Rod Merc from Cobra
9. The Wraith car.
10. Any of James Bond's cars.

Ah, the memories...

So what famous cars would you like in your garage?
-Z.

Thats hysterical, there is a pic of me lifting the van as well... also in a striped Izod polo.. I must have been 7 or 8

Also remember sitting in KITT, and asking him where the little red LED display was that was his "mouth"

You forgot a major car from the movies.

Eleanor,

Of which by the way, there is a company who will make you your very own Eleanor, with 750 hp.

Wasn't there a tv show called stingray? I'd like that '67 split window coupe too. Z-man, that list covers most of the good ones. The Wraith car was pretty mysterious..... and the noise....

I can't find a photo of it, but Roy Scheider drove a hopped up Nova in "The Seven-Ups;" sort of a "Bullit" type movie with car chases.

How about Burt Reynolds' brown LTD in "White Lightening?" Cool!
