Sorry to hear it; welcome to the biggest B.S. revenue-milking game this side of "no parking for street cleaning" around here (I've left "control" trash just to see if any street cleaners come; it was still there 3 times out of 5 later that day). With local revenue down and an obvious "go get 'em" trap set up, you have no chance. Do the traffic school. You can do it online; best deal going. You'll still have to pay the ticket, but at least it keeps the ********* insurance companies from bleeding you dry as a result (the points stay off). Personally I think auto insurance is a bigger racket than speed traps!

Anyway, just do that, spend $30-$35 (whatever it is, I forget) for the Internet Traffic School, spend a few hours sitting in front of the computer enjoying a few cold ones, and then forget about it.

Stupid ticket tales? One recently appeared in a paper here. Showed an old Toyota being hooked to tow straps...seems some poor dude had lost it on a rain slicked curve in Idaho, went off the road, 20 feet down into a lake...he managed to escape the submerged car with minor injuries & crawl up the bank to the road, where a passing motorist picked him up, took him to the hospital. The photo caption said it well...he was cited for leaving the scene of an injury accident even though the injuries were his own and the accident scene was under water.

What Brian said. If you can't see around the truck and he's braking fast, you'd better be worried. You could cream a ped/bike, or get t-boned by some yahoo who has decided to pull out. And remember in CA a cross walk is assumed at EVERY corner, whether it is painted or not. And the ped has the right of way.

Just see if you can get traffic school When you get the summons in the mail it should give you that option if available.

Best get your brakes checked if the guy in the truck could stop and you couldn't.

I wonder how many CA drivers know this. I would say maybe 1 or 2%.
