And you guys wonder why I hate boxter owners?

Hey everyone,
Oh my god, I don't even know how to tell this story. As I've posted before I work in a Porsche shop, and you know from time to time you try to get new customers for the shop, so everyone that works there carries around a few business cards with them that we give out when we meet other porsche owners.
We got a call at work today that defies imagination. This woman calls, and is furious that someone put a business card under the windshield wiper of her yellow boxster. She was just going"he he he... he lifted my windshield wiper! you just don't do that to other peoples cars"
IMHO putting a note or a card under the wiper is the most polite way to leave someone a message, and I am the most anal person on the planet when it comes to my car and people screwing with it, but this lady was just nuts. My boss is trying to calm her down, while i'm rolling on the ground trying not to laugh out loud, and he's being so polite and he goes "look ma'am I'm very sorry my employees are very good about advertising for me since I don't do a lot of media advertising and in 30 years you are the first person to ever get upset about it. Do you mind if I ask your name so we can avoid this problem in the future" She just gets even more pissed off and says "I'd never give people like you my name" At which point my boss goes "oh well, that's ok, we already have your name, address, and phone number from the caller ID, and we'll be sure never to allow you to set foot in our shop. Have a nice day." and hangs up... oh it was awesome. We laughed for about 10 minutes straight after that. I mean, how can you take someone that psychotic seriously.

So, I rest my case all boxster owners a freakin nuts... they are in world of their own. All of my friends who have boxsters please excuse that statement I forgive your momentary lapses in judgement.

What's really funny is most of the women I know who are porsches owners are like diehard true Porsche fanatics, and are some of the coolest customer's you'll ever get, but this woman was just... she was not right.

Lol, ok I've vented and shared the hillarious story... feel free to comment or yell at me for hating boxster owners.

Well, it's not worth an outraged phone call to me, but I'm not a big fan of that form of advertising, either.

it IS funny, but some people (including myself) would rather have NO ONE touching their Porsche...maybe that is why she freaked out...it only takes ONE person to scratch the car with their belt buckle, etc. to give a person an uneasy feeling about someone placing a card, flyer, etc. under the windshield...as me how I know...

did she over do it? probably, but I can see where she's coming from...as far as being a boxster owner...I see them as a fellow Porsche enthusiast...at least around here...

I don't know... like I said, i'm insanely particular about my cars, but stuff like that just doesn't bother me, in fact I think it's polite. I had someone leave a note under the wider of my subaru letting my know about a local Impreza club, and I just thought that was really cool. I don't really consider stuff like that messing with someone's car, but yes I can see the point that some people just don't want their cars to be messed with in any way.

Some people just *look* for reasons to get self-righteous and b!tch. If no damage was done to her car by virtue of putting the card on it, she's got no real gripe and just needs that rush of indignation to get her through.

I've had LR specialists leave cards on my old Bugeye and someone just leave a note on the Mini. I thought it was nice, both times.

My wife is VERY particular about her cars. She enjoys my 911, but feels it's just a little to much for her when I encouage her to drive it. She test-drove a Boxster and loved it, so we're in the process of getting her one.

Recently, she came back to her car (a souped-up Saab) after grocery shopping. Our Saab indie, without realizing that this was her car, left a card under the wiper. She kind of got a kick out of it.

I think that this partiular woman who owns the Boxster has issues with numerous everyday facts of life. Too bad.

As long as it's not a parking ticket I don't mind seeing stuff under the wiper......
.......unless it's pouring rain, I rushed to get inside the car, drove off, and noticed something flapping at speed (or while using the wipers) and now I've got this annoying scrap of paper fluttering in front of me.

I am sure you meant to add some humour to the board but by making fun of Boxster owners in such a way, are you not being a 911 snob?.
Porsches are Porsches, they are all just lumps of metal, rubber, plastic and leather, etc.
Much the same as I have worked for some of the wealthiest people in the States directly. But they are all just flesh and bone as you and I.
Judgeing someone by the model of their car is akin to judgeing someone by the colour of their skin!.
..... It's just a badge!

I hate it when people put stuff on cars advertising things. Sorry she was a b!tch, though, that's not called for.

I'd mind if was some generic ad. I hate those. But if it's from another enthusiast or wrench I say all the better. Good to have options.

Think of the time and effort to call someone and complain about a business card for ten minutes on the phone. Life is too short. I wonder if her husband works long hours and is away on business alot.

lol, Oh I'm a 911 snob all right, and proud of it. In all honesty though, I think the boxster itself is a great car and was a great move for Porsche. Other than the fact that I think the S ought to be the base model, and you can't ever see the engine, I have never said anything bad about boxsters themselves... just the people who tend to buy them. In fact I'd take a boxster over a 996 anyday, I mean I actually hate 996s to me they mark the death of a once great and wonderful auto manufacturer. I mean, the fact that they use crate engines says it all. But no, boxsters themselves are very cool in my book, especially with a 996 crate engine installed.

I don't want some minimum wage guy with a handful of flyers wearing a big metal belt buckle leaning over any of my cars to put a note under the windshield wiper.

Letely, people have been slipping business cards in the door window, just tucked into the felt seal. That's fine with me.

What happens to all those flyers and cards? They usually get thrown on the ground.

In L.A., the fine for 'leafletting' cars is $1500 per occurance.

I hate finding advertisements under my windshield. It's like getting spamed with e-mail. What I hate most about it is that I have to carry the crap with me until I can find a garbage can. Others litter and toss it on the ground. Neither outcome is nice. Personally, I'm glad someone made a fuss about it.
