Media bias

"Even though the Swift Vets have now published a book, Unfit for Command, and sponsored a TV ad, the networks still aren’t investigating their charges. MRC analysts examined ABC, CBS and NBC’s morning and evening news shows. They found 75 stories this year questioning Bush’s National Guard service, but only NINE detailing any of the Swift Vets’ anti-Kerry charges, an eight-to-one disparity. But the networks’ double standard runs far deeper than the amount of coverage."

"On February 10, White House reporters badgered Press Secretary Scott McClellan for 30 minutes, demanding detailed proof that everything Bush said in the past was true. But the networks now call the Swift Vets’ ad “ugly,” and reporters’ demand is for Bush to condemn it, not Kerry to factually rebut it."

Today the NY Times reports the results of it's investigation into the swift boat vets.

Did they find out if the sbv's are lying? Nope didn't look into that.

Did they find out if Kerry really spent Chrismas in Cambodia? Nope didn't look into that.

Did they find out anything relatiing to the claims of the sbvs? Nope didn't look into that.

What did they find out? They accepted some money for production costs and it came from (brace yourselves) REPUBLICANS and the commercial was made by the same folks who made McGovern look like a fool in the tank. Now how much more objective can you get.

Selectively, both sides cancalim "media bias".

I suppose the right cheers every time FOX lambastes someone from te "left" just like the left likes the NYT articles.

Fair is fair, gentlemen. Depends on whose ox is getting gored.

Like it or not, that is how a free society works..Oh, I forget..some would like to change all that....

You are overlooking one very important aspect.

ABC, CBS and NBC’s news shows are are to be "Public Service" as part of the deal for using puplic airwaves. FOX new is cable only. . .unless on of the OTHA shows pics up one of their stories.

For ABC, CBS and NBC’s news shows to feed propoganda and hit pieces as "NEWS" misses the mark of "Public Service".

Objectively the media is predominantly left leaning...The Republican media is still a blip on the overall broadcasting radar.

It is easy to muddy the waters with subjective relativism and say they all do it, but this does not really get at the issue...It silences debate, surely, but it doesn't come to a solution to the problem.

Fair is fair, obviously....But lies and deception are not. The left-wing media has an obvious antagonistic posture to Republicans and Bush (as their representative). Bush being AWOL (despite it not being true and a manufacture of Michael Moore and Terry McAwful) got 8 times the coverage that the Swift Boat Veterans got...254 Swift Boat Veterans (eyewitnesses included) have called into question Kerry's war record...The media responds by ignoring the Swift Boat Vets and even attacking them (case in point Chris Matthews).

Every liberal that comes down the pike gets hoisted on the collective shoulders of the left...When Dick Clarke came out with his book he was their hero (he contradicted himself and never questioned about it)...When Joe Wilson came out with his book he was their hero (he was caught in several lies, again silence from the media)...When Sandy Bergler was caught committing felonies hiding information from the 9/11 Commission, all the media focused on was how there was "no connection between Saddam and Al Qaeda."

There was a connection between Saddam and Al Qaeda. Dick Clarke did contradict himself. Joe Wilson was caught lying. Sandy Bergler is emersed in scandal and he was Kerry's presumptive National Security Advisor.

Where are the war records John Kerry?...Nothing to see here, the Swift Boat Veterans received $150,000 from a Republican (who else would fund them?...a democrat?)...Kerry gets millions from Moveon.org/George Soros, Michael Moore and free advertising from the press...And the Swifties are scandalous?

I think calling any of the Infotainement / Magazine shows ‘News’ is stretching the truth, network or cable. With very few exceptions these shows are basically a bunch of guffawing morons who failed Game Show Hosting School that are more interested in exchanging inane pleasantries with the weathergirl / sports presenter than dealing with any real issues.

Its all about rating$.

Sorry, MRC?

They wouldn't know bias if they were soaking in it (and they are).

See how many seconds it takes you to detect which side they're on:

http://www.mediaresearch.org/

I don't buy their analysis any more than the neo-cons would buy media analysis from the DNC.

Good point. The SBV didn't exist until recently.

Believe me, if the media were as left as some of us would like, MrBush would have been tarred and feathered a long time ago.

As for McClellan getting grilled for 30 minutes, he deserved every minute of it. He provided the media with shady, hole-filled, barely-readable documentation then dodged every question that was asked of him. The guy was full of it and wasn't fooling anybody. It takes a special kind of talent to dress up dung the way he does, the guy is a pro.

Refute this.

Trent Lott honors an ex-segregationalist, Strom Thurmond, by saying on his 100th birthday, "I want to say this about my state: When Strom Thurmond ran for president, we voted for him. We're proud of it. And if the rest of the country had followed our lead, we wouldn't have had all these problems over all these years, either,"

Chris Dodd honors an ex-KKK Grand Kleagle (head recruiter/lyncher), Robert "Sheets" Byrd by saying, "I do not think it is an exaggeration at all to say to my friend from West Virginia that he would have been a great senator at any moment,"

(just based on pure racism and language clearly Dodd's/Byrd comments/actions make Trent Lott look like Martin Luther King, Jr.)

Guess which Senator got dragged through the mud for 3 weeks by the media/DNC?

I'll betcha half you libs got on the "lynch Lott" bandwagon and felt that comfortable "ya, Republicans are racists" righteous indignation...I betcha at least half of you libs never knew about Dodd's statements, or even care for that matter.

(note - I am no fan of Lott, he singlehandedly saved Clinton and stabbed the Republicans in the back during impeachment)

9/11 Chair Hamilton Slams Media Distortions

Vice Chairman of the 9/11 Commission Lee Hamilton blasted the mainstream press yesterday for distorting the Commission's findings on links between Iraq and al-Qaida, saying those findings actually support Bush administration contentions.

"The sharp differences that the press has drawn [between the White House and the Commission] are not that apparent to me," Hamilton told the Associated Press, a day after insisting that his probe uncovered "all kinds" of connections between Osama bin Laden's terror network and Iraq.

Hamilton's comments followed a deluge of mainstream reports falsely claiming that the 9/11 Commission had discredited the Bush administration's claim of longstanding links between Baghdad and bin Laden.

But the Indiana Democrat said the press accounts were flat-out wrong.

"There are all kinds of ties," he told PBS's "The News Hour" late Wednesday, in comments that establishment journalists have refused to report.

"There are all kinds of connections. And it may very well have been that Osama bin Laden or some of his lieutenants met at some time with Saddam Hussein's lieutenants."

Lee Hamilton (D) seems to think that the media have a bias...The media knows better than to spread these lies, in fact they know full well but they insisted on misleading the public to hurt Bush.

NewsMax.com -- (note to naysayers, the source does not diminish the import or veracity...on the contrary, the source validates my position that the right wing media can be trusted more than the left-wing media)

Swift Boat Veterans press conference from May

As we speak the Democrats are attacking Vietnam Vets (what's new?) and attempting to "burn the books!" by demonizing men who fought (not cutting and running) for American's right to free speech.
