After the Dem convention, Kerry had a brief lead. After the Rep convention, Bush will have a brief lead. Eventually the convention bounce fades. November is still too far away to call this other than a coin flip, IMO.

I don't think he's toast, but the tide is shifting against him pretty good. Believe it or not, we still have a long time till election day. Thing is, he's painted himself in a corner. He has taken so many different positions that everytime he opens his yap he will be accused of flip-flopping again. I think it was/is just a poorly run campaign with a piss poor candidate. By design? you decide

I think he's more like an english muffin being that he's such a fancy pants. Cheney is toast- he has that dry, abrasive quality. Edwards is one of those crumpet things, and Bush is a melted lump of cheese that some dork tried to drop in the slot w/ Cheney.

Hem lines are supposed to predict economies.

So what do t-shirts predict?

In all seriousness, I think Mark raises a good question.

It seems to me that we ought to start hearing about some sort of "health reason" as why Kerry might have to pull out of the race.

I agree with your statement, but keep in mind that Kerry's bounce was minimal compared to what other candidates have received in the past. Going into the Republican Convention (pre-bounce) Bush was on top in most polls. This places GW currently in a very strong position, because he does not need a post-convention bounce.

Kerry's campaign is not dead, but it is pretty weak at the moment. Much of the lack of strength is due to Kerry himself. I hate to sound partisan, but Kerry is just not that strong of a candidate when you get right down to it. The Republican's strategy is spot on...go after Kerry's record. His record is a legitimate and relevant talking point.

All in all, November is a long way away and a lot can happen, so to say Kerry is toast at this time would be premature.

I agree. When a race is this close, 2 months is an eternity.

English muffin!?! He's obviously a croissant. Flakey, brittle and crumbly.

I hope when he loses, his people will turn on him, like he turned on VIET NAM VETERANS, and then he can get a taste of it.............

8 weeks is a long time, and of course anything can happen . . .

But, Kerry is browning up to toasted perfection.

Again, this was the Dems race to lose, with Bush being so weak on so many issues. This was a very winnable year for the Dems.

But the Ghost of Northeastern Liberals Past which the Dem machine is so addicted to will yet again come back to bite them. Kerry is a stiff that seemingly even most Dems don't really like. If the Dems had picked anyone decent, this race would have been over.

It's truly unbelievable with so much fodder the democrats had, that the race is still this close. SoCal911 called it: this is the democrats race to loose, and though I'm not calling a winner yet, it does not bode well for them at the moment. All this tells me is they don't have a viable platform. "Anyone but Bush" has left very little to desire. It's like "Anything but a Yugo," when you're other choice is a Pinto.

Well, if a person understands how a Yugo works and/or doesn't work, I think they may tend toward the devil they know.

Hmmm...maybe Dean wasn't such a bad idea after all...

Why are all the women I know voting for Kerry. I'm 52 yoa; me and all my buddies are big GW fans. All our wives are Kerry fans. All they can say it's all about abortion. I say, Kerry sure has big plans, he just can't say how he's gonna pay for it all....Bob S.
