Zombie Invasion How do you think you would do in a Zombie Invasion? With traditional slow and stupid zombies. You reckon you could handle yourself? What weapons would you use? What tactics? What would you do about shelter and food? this is not a political thread. |
|
I'd be OK during the day, running and dodging and stuff, but the nights would be a little dicey. I would probably have to double up on the evening wine and antihistamines to get to sleep. |
|
I'd be like Charlton Heston in "The Omega Man." Playing chess with a mannequin, locking and loading automatic rifles, looking for un-zombied babes, saying "goddamn" a lot. The usual stuff. |

Actually, just a big zombie movie fan. First order of business would be to find a defensible area, preferably with a big wall around it. Second would be to find other people you could work with. Friends, etc. Everything else could be improvised. For personal weapons, I'd take a semi-auto centerfire rifle, a sawed-off pump shotgun, a semi-auto pistol, and a big knife. You'd need some sort of vehicle with armour and good carrying capacity , perhaps a bulldozer w/trailer or armoured truck. Just scavenge what you need from the city. A quick trip to Home Depot, a quick trip to the gun store, supermarket, etc. Lure the zombies into a funnel shaped kill zone surrounded by walls, kill them, torch the bodies, repeat. Bonus points for blasting Wagner really loud. What fun! Jason |

in a zombie populous being mobile is the most important, a big truck would be the best......you need a safe place to sleep, plus you could have a hatch opening the roof so you use air powered weapons and flame devices from an elevated perspective, this means more kills. for hand to hand i'd say the sawed-off-shotgun would be the most effective, plus it's easy to load shoutguns shelves yourself, this also opens up a variety of ammo loads. a sharp machetti (sp?) would be good to have too. i've been playing the evil dead game on my ps2, if you don't have it you need to go pick it up........ the chainsaw and shovel are fun....plus ash taunts with the triangle button......like...."i just found a cure for ugly" :D |

I would do it Resident Evil style. |

I'd refer them to Stupidman,,,I mean Superman. Before they could figure out all the rhetoric he expounds, they would die of pure boredom. Besides, everyone knows Zombies are NASCAR fans! |

HAHA! I put this thread up as a joke, i wasn't expecting anyone to actually respond, hhaahaha |

Assuming that they are Romero-style zombies, and not the new trend of "fast" zombies... First thing to do is to arm yourself to the teeth. Most encounters would be somewhat close-range, so I would carry a shotgun and a sidearm. Since you just have to kill the zombie's brain, high ammunition count is more important that gun caliber. For the sidearm, a nice durable Glock 9mm would do nicely. It is important not to rely on firearms, however. Remember, you never ever have to reload a blade. So, along with the guns, I would carry a machete, or a small samarai sword (what are they called? Warashi or something?) Next thing to do would be to find suitable transportation. It must be sturdy, safe, durable, and preferably fast. Actually, the Porsche Cayenne Turbo comes immediately to mind... although I may demote it for a need to refuel often. Perhaps a 996 C4S or Turbo would be a better choice. Next thing would be a suitable fortress. My vote is for a country club... it is a big area, the roof is easily accessible, and the land is flat and open (golf course), so you can see for a good ways around the building. That AND they are usually in rural/suburban areas. There is a book called the Zombie Survival Guide. I am convinced that the author is completely serious. |

i would be like charelton heston in the omega man also (one of his finest movies) be in a smoking jacket playing chess with a cigar hanging out of my mouth and walk out on the balcony with a machine gun and level about a dozen zombies then go find a black supermodel in an abandoned clothing store and ride around on a motor cycle...the life |

LOVE THIS THREAD! 12 gauge riot shotgun (benelli), for close encounters, deer rifle, something simple like a 30-06 so i can kick in the doors of any walmart to get more ammo. and maybe a m-16 for those tight shopping mall fights to save the hottie. big handgun to shot them off my car, a long arm is to unwieldy in a vehicle. BIG ASS DIESEL HUMVEE! and zombies cant climb so i would camp out in a san francisco loft with high walls. seriously, i have thought this thru. cliff |

Speaking of Zombies, but a little unrelated, I almost watched John Carpenter's "The Thing," but literally chickened out. I gave myself the excuse that it was on too late (10PM???). Damn but that movie when I first saw it gave me the WILLIES! As if the original 50s version wasn't creepy enough... |

Gotta love Heston in disaster movies, he's either kicking ass and taking names, or drinking excessively.... Omega Man is one of my favorite movies.... but they were more like mutant vampires than zombies Zombies are slow and stupid, period.. Funny, as concentric and I ave had this conversation a few times in the past as to what would be the ideal situation as to how to survive a zombie invasion. He's got the whole thing worked out.. trust me.. |

are zombies particularly strong? can they wield an ax to break down doors? they usually seem lethargic. I also second the humvee choice (I'd go w/ the p'up truck version so you have a nice and open firing platform out back, and you could really pile up the home depot stuff quickly too) I think flame throwers would be most effective, even the home made kind. For stopping power, the shotgun w/ the big-ass drum underneath it would do. And a bunch of sniper rifles for those times when you get bored and feel like having some fun, friendly competition from the balcony. It would be like a shooting gallery LOL |
|
i've thought about a flame thrower too, but i think it would be a bad idea Imagine if you are stuck in close quarters with many advancing zombies. You start with the flame thrower, and suddenly you have many advancing zombies - who are on fire - advancing in a closer area. Not good |

All I can suggest is those riot control vehicles from yet another great Heston disaster/future film.. Soylent Green.... that will take care of the zombies... just compress them all down in the hopper.. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1094741126.jpg |

I would just go out on my boat. The undead cant swim. |

Apparently you havent seen the new Dawn of the Dead, Steve... |

I am SO stoked for "Shaun of the Dead." Zombie invasion? The first trip is to an armory, no doubt. If it was infectious zombosis, I'd get HAZMAT gear ASAP. I'd get a SAW and tons of ammo for the vehicle (I'm thinking a new Stryker b/c it'll go through/over just about anything, and it'll do the off-road thing very well, as well as provide protected sleeping quarters in a pinch). I'd carry a sawed-off 12-ga shotgun (unless I could get my hands on one of the SEAL's fully-auto shot guns) for the last-minute stuff, but probably a pair of HK MP5 series for the quick knock-down of large numbers stuff and a sweet 5.56 assault rifle -- essentially I'd look like Neo walking into the HQ in The Matrix; only w/o the leather. Stockpiles of molotov cocktails and as many grenades as I could get my hands on, too. I'd claymore the hell out of my base of operations, which would be a few stories tall with the ground and second stories completely sealed, but not so tall I couldn't escape via wire if the building was inundated. I don't think shelter/food would be so difficult. I'd probably take a "28 Days Later" perspective on confrontations, though -- find a redoubt in a more rural area and wait it out until they'd starved/destroyed themselves. JP |
