I just looked at the latest satellite pics. I has just taken a slight turn N-NE, away from Louisiana. It looks like New Orleans might get REALLY lucky. (Yes, I am a weather geek.)

I'm just leaving my house boarded up till the season's over. I think we might get to hurricane Zoe this year! Looks like Alabama loses this time.

I'm still here! For now, I'm sure the power will be out by morning. There have allready been 2 deaths from tornados within 30 min of my house!! The wind are really getting strong now!!

Thanks for the good thoughts!!

The power of the storm is really unbelievable. We've got a place down in Grand Cayman and though they haven't seen much media coverage the island is a disaster. Here are a couple of URL's describing first hand experiences of those still there.

http://cayman-damage.andy.net/gcm.php
http://www.stormcarib.com/reports/2004/cayman.shtml

Our place was a three story complex second from the beach and they received 2-3 feet of water on the second floor.

Good luck to all!

John

been here 20 years and never boarded up. i have now been semi boarded up for 4 weeks straight now. i hear this is just the beginning of a new 13 - 15 year cycle. i guess i should paint my plywood the same color as the house! frances was just a TS here and it was unnerving enough ..you are probably shiettin about now. keep us posted while you can and when it is passed.

i wish I had a buck for each time I've said or had some one say to me, "stay safe" in the last 4 weeks. never had that happen in past years. people in this state are gonna need therapy for a while. everybody here is pretty spooked. at least in LA you don't see it coming. imagine turning on your TV every night for a week and having them say "It's coming..it's almost here" and then go to film of the destruction you're in for! talk about messin with your head.

We made it so far! There is still a lot of wind! And we are under a tornado warning, again. But the house is still here and I'm very lucky to still have power!

Glad you a Sherman are OK. Thought about you a lot last night. I work for the nespaper here that is sister to the TV station (NBC) here,. We are starting to see that wreckage now. It's pretty ugly. I can't believe you both still have power. At least the bad part has passed you. Keep us in the loop.
