Bad experience at a Porsche stealership yesterday

I set off to buy a crossover SUV with the Cayenne S as my top choice but I'm glad I ended up with an Infiniti FX45! The Porsche salesman "helping" me get into a Cayenne was such as snooty ********* that I left the stealership pissed off. That and the car I wanted, and it only had 119 miles on the odometer, had a broken driver's side mirror, busted off rear air vents, broken pastic tab under the rear passenger headrests from being taken off and on during the demo. I hope that's not the norm for Cayennes because that thing's quality was well below the FX's.

I thought I'd be giving up a lot by going with the Infiniti but the only thing it doesn't do as well as the Cayenne is tow. Everything else from 0-60 to skidpad, it does as well or better than the Porsche. Plus, it had ZERO defects from the get-go!

Sorry Porsche, but I'm not about to hand over $70 large for that fragile POS. Here's my new baby:

Bully for you Chris.

I hate to say it, but that snooty ********* crap sells high end stuff, or they wouldn't do it. Status and snob appeal are more important than the tow rating and skidpad numbers you mention..

Quality and all that engineering stuff barely counts for anything.

To all the Pukes that diss the FX series, have you driven one? The 35's get 23-25 mpg and I'd take on any of you boys with the old SC's in a road with high speed sweepers. Drive one before you say SUV.

Sorry, the FX looks like a Hot Wheels toy.

Just the looks of Nissan' trucks would prevent me from ever considering one.

I agree with everything except the fact that I always thought that inifiniti and the morono looked a lot like an AMC Eagle...

Just me though.

If you get one in Black that rear pillar blends right in. I've had Porsches for 20 years now. I love em. But if your wife is bound and determined she is going to have an SUV the FX kicks the **** out of the Porshe. I admit I didn't drive the turbo model, but for half the price WTF?

FX is much better looking. When we were looking at new rides we were on the FX. But, we decided on a PU so.....

Yes, from a numbers standpoint (and likely from the dealership/cutomer service standpoint) I can certainly understand the decision.

Besides, when you're driving it *you* don't have to see the exterior.

I thought about the Cayenne, but found the BMW dealership close to me much more accomodating. I've had the X5 for a year and a half and I love it. I've had many other sedans that were 1/2 the fun of driving this car. And I can still tow with it. They've come a long way with suv's lately, so much so that the lines have blurred.

fragile pos? You saw one at a dealership that had been neglected and all of a sudden it's a fragile pos? I don't know what's worse, the snooty salesman or your generalizations about the Cayenne based on one negative experience

I wass in my buddies Turreg a couple of times. Nice SUV. However with AWD it binds when making any kind of turn. It's like having 4 wheel drive on ALL the time. He said it was normal.....seems odd to me.

Have your friend take it to the dealer and make sure everything is up to date. There is a TSB for that.

Here we go with your personal attacks on me again, I still don't know what you have against me. Although, I do invite you to say those things to my face if/when we meet in person (bound to happen eventually since we live in the same state) Back to the point, 119 miles and it's being sold as a new car at a porsche dealership usually means it's a test-drive car, he even mentioned the broken mirror and plastic tab on the head rest being broken off during the demo (commonly adjusted items prior to a test drive). I doubt the car has been driven around town by an old lady wearing white gloves prior to Chris checking it out, it's probably been flogged in every way possible. and FYI yes i have driven one, as a matter of fact, I've driven four. 3 Ss and 1 V6. I'd say that makes me qualified to add my opinion. How many have you driven?

I find it funny that you tell me to shutup, but you're the one asking Chris where he got the money to buy a house/car/whatever. Maybe you should stop being so nosey, didn't your mother ever tell you it's rude to ask people how they can afford the things they buy?

When your as BIG as I am...you need SPACE...and that only seems to come in BIG vehicles...like PU's and SUV's ....

Whats ironic is that the pre 74 911's have that space....

Congrats on the new SUV. Drive safely. Sorry about your bad experience at the dealership, I have yet to go to a P-Car dealership, afraid I might come out beyond broke. By the way, the Cayenne held up pretty well in that new movie "Cellular."

I actually like Infiniti(s). I just wish they wouldn't completely RESTYLE their cars every 2-3 years. It absolutely destroys resale value. Why Infiniti does this is probably traceable back to the parent company - Nissan, who does the same thing with their styling.
Your wife will love driving the FX and all the high school boys will love that exhaust note. Very burble-y. A lady on our block has one and I can hear her coming from a long way off.

I'm curious -- what are the skidpad numbers for the Infiniti, PepperWagen, X5, et al.? Seems like skidpad can't be a huge selling point for an SUV, but it's an interesting data point.

I had a bad experience at Melbourne's only Porsche dealership last Saturday...

I needed some parts, so drove 40 minutes to get there and... they were closed!
