This kind of stuff boggles the mind. Regardless of what you think of the man, he is still the President until November (or further) and will always have been a President. Undisputable fact.
John Kerry is no more a President (currently) than Dole, Mondale, Gore, Nader, etc.

If the photo was displayed in context as this article indicates, you have to worry about these parents.

I wonder if that's the whole story. If it is, it's dispicable of parents to bring politics into middle school.

I agree, he's the president whether you like it or not and deserves to be recognized as such.

If this story is true though, it does show how great the divide is in our country. I wonder it there's more to the story though.

The teacher did nothing wrong. In fact, some of the classrooms in my past have had portraits of presidents, past and present. Indeed, they have also had images of Jesus, Mary, Joseph and the Pope, but that's another story.

The error was made by the school official that decided to discipline this teacher.

Wow, that is insane. I feel bad for the teacher. It seems like the school district may have opened a lawsuit of some kind. Students should know who their president is.

Wasn't there some scandal in OH about the Democrats registering children as voters?!?

Regardless, it is utterly insane that a teacher would get in such trouble for this.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, N.J. -- A New Jersey middle school teacher said Tuesday that she's hired a lawyer, claiming she came under fire for displaying a picture of President George W. Bush on her school bulletin board.

But school officials said the picture wasn't the issue.

They cited Shiba Pillai-Diaz's "zealous misuse of seventh- and eighth-grade student instructional time."

School Superintendent Gary McCartney said the teacher's display of pictures made the presentation appear partisan to many students and parents.

McCartney said Pillai-Diaz once told her students she was "glad they were not old enough to vote" -- and that she told one student, "You should be ashamed to be a Democrat."

Pillai-Diaz denied talking about politics with students and told a newspaper, "You would have to be incredibly stupid to say those things to a student."

She said she's looking into her legal rights.

She said she left work Friday after being told by the school's principal to "get your stuff and get out."

She took that to mean she was fired.

McCartney said Pillai-Diaz had not been fired and accused her of "abandoning her post" by leaving the school.

School officials said the flap had nothing to do with Pillai-Diaz's support for Bush.

They said there are plenty of other teachers who are staunch Republicans.

This totally liberal guy at work saw me surfing it once and made some comment on the DR's slant. I argued that it was a "new conglomerator" but gave a more concerted look at what DR posts. He was right. I never told him that though

Sorry. Didn't mean you distorting the facts. I meant the media.

I just heard that here in CO, they are averaging about 2000 new registered voters per day (I believe that's just in the greater Denver area). They had to hire 14 folks just to handle the load. It's going to be an interesting election. One of the most exciting since I've been able to vote. Haven't seen the state polls for who is leading after the debate. Bush was more than a few percentage points ahead before the debate.
