How do I do This. I have a original copy and two VCR's
How do I hook them up to produce a copy tape of original?

Output of VCR1 into input of VCR2. Hook up VCR 2 to the TV to see what you're doing (put it on 'input" or channel 3 or whatever first). Put the master in VCR1.

If they are cheapo VCRs, use the COAX in the same manner.

Usually you use an RCA based cable to hookup the Video output from the source machine to the video input of the recording one. Then an RCA cable for each audio channel...one from audio output Right channel to input...same for left channel. That's three RCA cables total.

Also if there in an "Edit" feature on one of the machines then use that as the source VCR. This button/feature strengthens the signal for this purpose.

funny to think that VCR's are so obsolete now that people have to ask how to do this. I remeber when my dad bought our first VCR. It was like $600

I spent $1200 on one....then about the same on a LaserDisc player. (At least it wasn't an RCA selectravision unit)

If the original is a "store-bought" commercial release videotape, such as a feature film, there's a good chance it is encoded with a copy-protection product called MacroVision. MacroVision causes the copied tape to have scrambled video (audio is uneffected).

So, if your copy does not come out looking right, don't assume you have the cables hooked up wrong. It may just be MacroVision doing its job.

FYI, there are a number of "black boxes" out there that defeat MacroVision, and allow you to make a clean copy.

watch the video, and store it in your head. then put the other tape on record, and transfer the thoughts in your head onto the new tape. shouldn't be too difficult to figure it out, let me know immediately if any difficulty is encountered.

Tsnap difficulty was encountered on this first attempt described by you.
Had slammed about eight cold beer's and when it came time to tranfer
the thoughts to the recording tape I coud not remember anything.
Will make another attemt again Fryday evening as a 914-6 is bringing
more beer over to assist.

i will bring the elcetrodes with me, or we can use the mfi hei . sometimes, a little electrical "prodding" on the brain surface is all that is necessary to lift the beer trance, and produce a hi quality copy.
