well, it could also apply to the late Soviet / US arms race as well. I guess it depends on the action and the threat.

On the theory of eliminating ALL Muslims (or) eliminating the BAD minority muslims as the only way to dispell the hate and general " Religious Killing Machines "... as some were eliminated, would it not fuel the remaining muslims to act on revenge ?? I think that would apply to any % of populous.

I have said for many years that we need to let loose our grip on Israel, and that it would bite us in the arse . THAT needs to happen yesterday..

On the subject of Turkey: The only reference I have is doing exercises with them in the Med in 1989'ish.. The control over the BAD Muslims and any separation of Religion and Govt. probably was a long process and probably took place under calmer conditions.. But I'm just speculating here.

Israel is a democracy that has a competitive economic system with a population that realizes it's at war with leaders of a failed economic system. Leaders who control a failed system need enemies to unite their people against a "common threat".

Turkey's salvation is that the military has the power to remove its leaders. If you're a good leader you get a pat on the head. If you're a bad leader you get a pat on the ass.

fwiw.. terrorists in learning are indoctrinated in a group "think". The wanting to belong and become respected within this "group" are motivation. The removal from this "group" reinforcement allows other thinking to be an option. This theory of the dynamics has been reinforced with very recent testing.
