What is it with these 2 guys? Why do they always make references to Cheney's daughter? There are many important issues that they must deal with.

Leave the sexual preferences of that girl alone. Its like they are just trying to set off the Cheney's. I don't blame them for their choices in significant others...

Crickey, if we are going there, why not criticize Clinton.

They they keep on inflaming class warfare by making all these issues about the rich vs. the poor. The working class vs. the wealthy ones. Heck, I'm doing quite OK for myself and they don;t consider me working class, I put in at least 60 solid hours everyweek.

There is enough hatred in our society as it is for them to launch us into civil or class war. Why don't they get back to talking sense. Education, healthcare, security, .....

I'm tired of politics, more of the same. Both sides lying to different degrees to make their case.

Do they think we all are dumb or stupid?

My guess is to try and counteract the radical rights belief that Cheney and Bush walk on water. Is it effective, probably not, unless it gets some people to not vote at all. It's not going to swing voters. I'll give Cheney credit, he's not going to get in a discussion about it. He makes a non issue of it by not discussing. Brilliant move.

I thought Kerry's reference to Cheney's daughter was inappropriate last night. It certainly did not need to be said again that she's a lesbian. We all know he's just trying to solidify their vote. I hope it backfires. I do medical sales for a living and Kerry, to me, is the embodiment of a slimy, disingenuous sales person.

That was during the VP debate and, you're right, it was not a personal attack. Kerry's mention of her sexual preference again last night was unnecessary. And again, not a personal attack but insincere. Remember integrity, integrity, integrity.

Why, it did not add anything nor it was (IMHO) relevant. Especially not last night. It only shows lack of integrity from someone who is trying to gain your trust.

Its just putting fuel and throwing a match in hope of starting a fire. We don't need that.

I thought that a prospective leader of the big all mighty US of A was above that. Leave those cheap lines to politics in third world countries.

Tit for tat. I think Kerry is just catching up with the Bush campaign in terms of pointing to the negative aspects of the other candidate. So far, the Bush campaign has been about only two things. Iraq/terrorist/BinLaden/Saddam/Alqueda/Iraq is one. The other is Kerry.

So, Kerry is simplifying his message. It's about people. And Bush.

Was anyone listening to the question Kerry was answering? It was about gay marriage. Politicians tend to personalize issues when giving answers.

If you think mentioning somebody is gay in the context of answering a question about the rights of gay people -- or in this case, whether 'gay' is a "choice" then I guess you think the term itself is an insult.

I don’t see how mentioning that Cheney’s daughter is gay could be an insult, unless she actually isn’t and then it would only be read as such by people who think the term is insulting.

It does seem totally inappropriate though. His reference to her was obviously self-serving. I guess it could be argued that he was personalizing the question posed to Bush (which Bush didn’t answer) & she was a good example because she is known by both of them, but it still fells a little below-the-belt.

If you are referring to me, I was not bashing them but complaining (semantics ah!). I would just want to see both sides (and all of us in here) deal with the real issues.

If you want to talk about gay rights great but leave Cheney's "girl" out of it. That's my "complaint".

I don't know who did what in the past as I used to have a life and did not spent a lot of time thinking about what each other was saying. Regretfully, it has invanded even the sanctum of Pelican so my reaction.

If you read above, I think they should drop the crap and hit the real issues. Keep the "personalization" out of it; just deal with facts.

Is that too much to ask from any side?

As to the taste of the medicine, to each his own. If any side muddied the waters, they better like them since they'll have to drink them.

"Working Class" How did the liberals manage to coin and monopolize that term? Could there be a more inaccurate term? A more devisive term? Obviously, it fits their class warfare mentality.

I started my business from nothing. No help from the government or anyone else for that matter. It succeeded because I worked my butt off and took a huge personal risk - the same thing every other small business owner does. I now have over 20 people (including employees and their families) who rely on me to put bread (and plenty of it!) on the table ..... yet the Libs characterize me and "my kind" as greedy, selfish, lazy people who just happened to - as Tom Daschle calls it - "win life's Lotto". Is it any wonder there is so much animousity?

i did not include you in the republican apologist blast viking, sorry to lump you in. its the islands, lynndaddy and strombergs of the place that get me hotter than a mexicans lunch.

i did find some familiarity in your statement of not really getting too involved in this until recently. the extent of my previous political involment was giving S to a republican in my office. i just did not realize that most republicans are as passionate as he was. so much so that they can look the otherway at the canidate they back faults, yet one minor misque by a demo they S themselves in joy to sum up the other guys faults.

i know kerry is not all a president should be (at this point), but he has not had the last four years to completly F things up. my vote for kerry used to be strictly a vote against bush, after the debates it is FOR kerry.

i just hope there is a group hug thread,,, say november 15th. the third there will be too much lingering passion/bitterness, no matter who wins.

The point is that you're rich now, and it's your duty to pay more taxes to support the non-risk-takers out there. So stop complaining.
