Money doesn't make Class

In an interview published Wednesday in USA Today, the newspaper asked Tereeeezzza HEINZ-kerry if she would be different from Laura Bush as a first lady.

"Well, you know, I don't know Laura Bush. But she seems to be calm, and she has a sparkle in her eye, which is good . .. But I don't know that she's ever had a real job — I mean, since she's been grown up."

After her handlers reeled her back, she starts back-peddaling: link

"I had forgotten that Mrs. Bush had worked as a school teacher and librarian, and there couldn't be a more important job than teaching our children."

Bwahahaah .. .

. . .but best part; Teresa's claim in her apology to have "been both a full time mom and full time in workforce"(sic).

Thing is, Tereeeezzzza's only time in the workforce was a brief gig at Kerry Klub-Hause (United Nations) as a translator. (where she snagged her wealthy husband.)
Since then she's shown the world how driven a woman with money can be . . .Driven shopping, that is.

Tell us moore about Laura Bush, you classless, power-grubbing wench.

EDIT: add link

Didn't Teresa invent Ketchup?

island911 10-20-2004 04:32 PM

:D LOL, on-ramp. Yeah, every election needs it's Al Gore. ;)

Have to make a distinction there--class has nothing to do with coming up with a carefully worded and inoffensive comment when reporters shove microphones in your face. Teresa Heinz is so far above everyone else in this (politics--how tawdry and quaint) that she refreshingly says exactly what she's thinking.

Personally, I wish we had a little less PC canned responses and little more "shove it you *********" from our leaders. It's a shame that coverage of the personalities has been reduced to waiting for the gaffe so we can all cluck about it.

John Kerry should borrow some of Teresa's balls.

This is a test............

Teresa didn't grow up wealthy, she married it.

island911 10-20-2004 04:48 PM

Oh c'mon, Rally, that was a (poorly) calculated slam on Laura Bush.

If you're going to say she has balls, then why the tail-betwen-legs retraction? She could of just said, "hey, like I said, 'I didn't know her story'. . .so shove-it."

speeder 10-20-2004 05:08 PM

You're getting a little desperate, there.

I admire Laura Bush, she is a class act and she was not offended by TKH's remarks. And they clearly despise one another:

I am sure that Laura is offended by just about everything T.H. Kerry says...but has too much class to lower herself to THK's level.

Money might actually make a little class...if you had to earn it. Neither T Heinz Kerry or John Kerry have had the experience.

cool_chick 10-21-2004 03:23 AM

Oh but Rally..we do have class acts in our so-called "leaders." Hell, Cheney loves to tell people off wish special words such as f%ck on the senate floor.

I would think that some republicans here would be proud of the class demonstrated by ol Vice President Cheney.

:))

Yep , you're right. I 'm proud that Cheney had the balls to speak his mind, and not worry about being so P.C.
But I guess the old liberal double standard applies here.
If a Dem or Liberal had said that , it would have been called "free speech". But since a Conservative said it , its offensive.
Right??

The retraction came from the campaign, I'm sure.

Sorry--I'm generally willing to forgive people who make a gut call based on the information they have available to them at the time that later turns out to be bad.

And Pat Leahy does need to f--- off more than most. :p

928ram 10-21-2004 04:02 AM

Idiots, scumbags, and let the children run around naked...yeah there's a certain lack of class there for sure.

No...actually the double-standard applies to the republicans. Since it's Theresa Heinz-Kerry, a "shove it" comments displays "no class." But since Cheney said it, he "has the balls to speak his mind."

Talk about double-standard.

Me, doesn't matter either way...neither comments "offend" me. The truth is that Heinz-Kerry also "has the balls to speak her mind." Just pointing out the hypocricy on the right.

This woman is clearly insane. Apparently her condition is worsening because her medication level appears to need continual increase to keep her insanity from showing. Every time the DNC thinks she is sufficiently anesthetized she spouts off with some new crazy statement causing them to up the dosage. The wors is that after the election she is going to dump Kerry & marry Rush Limbaugh.

The difference - one was a Public remark, in front of reporters and cameras. The other was a private remark. So, one is of Public record, and the other heresay.

Laura did not need a job, she ran her own business selling drugs.

First Lady, both sold and smoked marijuana during her days at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.

I have to disagree.
Out of control emotional discourse is not a leadership quality. I expect my leaders to carry themselves better than to resort to petty insults. Cheneys
"f-off" was uncalled for and undignified. Id feel the same way if it were a Dem (Zell's in that list for sure).

I do agree that the talking-point canned BS we get from our leaders is getting out of hand though. Its been so refreshing to have Jon Stewart in the spotlight lately, I think he does an excellent job of working through all the muck. If only the rest of the media would follow suit...

From the link above:
"Perhaps the book's most improbable claim is that Laura Bush, now the model of primness and propriety as First Lady, both sold and smoked marijuana during her days at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas."

Comments on the senate floor are not considered “public record”?
