Exactly. All those were screen shots. To bad they didt put up and player shots.

first: replays are amazing, but yes, they are just replays

second: people get the game BECAUSE it's realistic

third: can you tell on a pc game whether the car is 2 wheel drive vs 4 wheel WITHOUT knowing what car you're in? In GT, they have 2 versions of a skyline (for example) and while in cockpit you can't tell which one it is but when you drive you *feel* whether it's 4 wd or 2 wd. Can you tell this difference on your pc game?

Did anyone else notice they finally added the McClaren F1? That is one car they have needed since the beginning.

Don't know of any computer games where there are 2 and 4WD versions of the same car. However, there is no lack of realism in PC games. The physics modeling is quite advanced. Have you played GTR2002 for F1 2002? It's the GT mod for Formula 1 on the PC.

hmmm, haven't played it yet, but isn't it just a different "set of clothes" to dress up the same game engine? Isn't this just a way to add tracks and change the *look* of a car but not its behavior?

My room-mate swears by GT3. The graphics are really as good as advertised. He also swears that he can "feel" the handling difference between FWD/RWD/AWD cars. Without the seat of the pants, it seems like that ought to be darn near impossible, but (shrug) whatever. Either way, GT3 is fantastic. If there existed a PC version of GT4, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

well, no other developer that I am aware of (or that has made the news) has travelled around the world to not only record the sounds of the cars, but drive them and in some cases even crash them. They photograph each car individually from many angles, and design each track to the last detail. If you drive the "Monaco" course, I can even show you my hotel window.

IMHO, GT3, while an excellent racing video game, still isn't the best. If it were realistic, it would be way to difficult for people to master and advance and the game wouldn't sell.

Case in point: in the license section, there's a wet skid-pad excerise with a Vette. Now, I've done dry skidpad runs in my Porsche, and all you have to do is lift slightly and the back end will start to come around. In GT3, I can lift, hit the brakes, yank up the handbrake, and the car will still just go around and around. NOT very realistic.

I have found in the racing section that adjusting the traction control to interfere less does make for a more realistic handling attitude for the car.

I bought a PS2 back in Janauary so I can finally play GT3, and eventually get and play GT4.

I do have the Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2 game for PS2, and that game is much more 'arcade-like' and less 'simulator-like.'

IMHO, the best driving game I have ever played is the Need For Speed Porshce Unleashed game for the PC. The 'Factory Driver' section is awesome and really gets into the dynamics of how to drive. (Ex: doing a 360, driving a C4 in the snow..etc). It doesn't hurt that NFS:Porsche Unleashed has only P-cars in it!

- Z-man.
