I don't make a habit of preaching but since religion has already made it's way into this thread, using the lord's image and scriptures in that manner is a sin. I find nothing beautiful about it, I find it offensive.
MAD magazine obviously has no respect for anything or anyone, posting their filth and using it to reinforce your opinions is just as bad, even in an off-topic forum. I'd say this crosses the line.
Don't pretend that it is just political banter, it is true blasphemy.

Everyone has a right to believe what they want just as I do. I don't trample on or ridicule your beliefs, please show me and all Chrisians the same consideration.

I hope you've written to GWB and asked him to stop claiming God has asked him to bring democracy to the Middle East. I find that a little more blasphemous than just posting someone's cartoons.

Sam, step back a minute and take a deep breath. There is nothing there that isn't just words. No swearing, no convoluted pics. The interpetation of various quotes taken out of context from the Bible is nothing more than folly. There is no attempt to malign Jesus there. I would suggest that Jesus was a pacifist and a promotor of forgiveness. Isn't that really all that it said there? And, someone disagrees.

Every Sunday, some pastor is doing the same thing, using quotes from the Bible to preach, albiet with some education on the matter. If the scriptures are to be taken only literally, then they must remain in their original language and not be translated at all.

The bottom 2 frames don't please you, I'm sure. But, once again, nothing there is condemning Jesus. It's just more purposeful, erroneous missteps in logic. The one thing you might take exception to is the word "wrong." I'm sure you believe that Jesus was never wrong. I'm not a theologian, but I believe that the Bible shows that He was wrong in an instance or two.

To make light of the Lord is uncooth, but I thought those that were saved knew how to tolerate that.

Jesus, my friend, was the original pacifist socialist. He wouldnt last 2 seconds in the modern political climate. Like so many god bothers, you miss the point completely.

While I'm not offended as a Christian by the above frames (actually quite amusing), let me explain why Sam reacted so defensively. We Christians get VERY tired of the modern notion that it's OK to bash Christianity and make light of it while all other viewpoints (Atheism, Agnosticism, etc.) are respected and not made fun of.

My point is...believe whatever you want, and respect other's beliefs while you do so.

Some beliefs should not be accorded such respect. For example if someone argued that Pluto was made of marshmellow, a reasonable person would argue that although nether of knows for sure, there is a sufficently strong body of knowldege to reasonably conclude that Pluto is in fact a rock.

Now the ideas of Jesus Christ are worthy of examination. He was a philosopher, social reformer and a radical. He, or the evolution of his ideas, has contributed enormously to the well being of man.

But the earth is not 8000 years old. Jesus Christ was was not the son of god. He did not rise from the dead. He was not conceived of a virgin, and he did not walk on water. You will not live after you die.

Not bashing your beliefs, just suggesting they are completey unfounded. :-)

Muslims
Buddhists
Hindus
Freemasons
Miscellaneous strongholds of Satan including most secular music

Just curious, Stuart, on what do you base these beliefs? You state them as accepted fact. They sound more like your opinions to me. I'm not trying to start anything, but maybe you can steer me towards the body of evidence on which you have built your opinions.
