What?!?!
|
Vizsla owners please stand, please stand up.
Do I have to give Eminem royalties?
![]() The wife has wanted a puppy for some time and she has fallen for the Vizsla. We've had Weimaraners and they are great but the Vizsla's personality appeals to my wife more. So we/she did lots of checking around and spoke with a bunch of breeders in California and AZ. We put a deposit on one this past Saturday. She comes home on 11-20. What are some "heads up" things from you folks that are familiar with this breed. Here's the stinker. ![]()

Don, Great pup!!! Vizsla are great dogs. Very affectionate with their owners but timid around new people. Also very active. Like to be trained more so then most dogs. The short hair is a plus. Every dog is different even in the same breed and will reflect their owners personalities. So this one is sure to love going for drives in a 911 often.
I have never owned one but this is my experience with them from freinds who have and years of dog sitting.

I love Vizslas. Beautiful dogs. The only thing I know is that they need to run...a lot.

Watch out...I don't mean to rain on your parade, but I had to give one away. It was so hyper it drive my family insane. We live on a wooded, private one acre lot, and it needed more like 10 acres.
It was a great hunting dog, but unless you are willing to exercise it (and you) 5 miles a day it will get too much pent up energy and drive you nuts. Now if you live in the country and it can be an outside dog, it is a different story alltogether. Don't go for one just for the status or the looks, buy one for the hunting characteristics and the ability (need) to keep you in shape. |

Nice dogs. Pretty darn smart. Endless amounts of energy.
kiwior has two of them. PM him for details. He and his wife love them like kids, so they'd be able to tell you all about 'em.

Beautiful dogs but they are not for everyone. Mine looks just like Tims I'd post a picture but my camera sucks. They shed quite a bit and it can be tough to clean up due it being so short. Mines an absolute fireball of energy who will run around the house for an hour straight and then sleep for 12 hours. Lots of exercise is whats needed. Mine is very attached and needs lots of attention. Enjoy puppydom while it lasts.
