Truly Beautiful and Inspiring – Must See!
The following are pics of one of the more fascinating people of our time. Her name is Aimee Mullins and she was born without shin bones. She competed in sports her whole life, went to Georgetown on a full academic ride – also ran track for them (see pic of her early years), worked in the State Department for Colin Powell, holds two world records in the 100 and long jump for para olympians, now makes her money acting and modeling. She is a good friend of mine and I like to share her story with as many people as I can - puts things into perspective.

In the para olympics, she was put in with woman that were missing hands and fingers. The photo of her running was at the Big East track meet in college - when she got into the starting blocks, the chicks to her left were looking at her in amazement. Right before getting in the blocks, she looked over at them and they were all gawking at her, she winked at them and proceeded to psych them out. She didn't get the fastest time that race, but fair to say she won!

Her folks decided to amputate at one, she grew up with wooden ones till college. She was a spokeswoman for Ossur at one time. She also worked with a few guys a NASA as well as Van Phillips. Prior to her sprinting and long jumping, it was pretty unheard of a double amputee attempting to do what she did - everyone always thought the impact would crush her spine but no one ever bothered to tell her that so she just went ahead and competed. Nike approched her for ad work, but she doesn't like playing that card. You would never know she had fake legs if you saw her in an airport or bar or even walking down the street.

Amazing story, Lube, thanks for sharing... for those of us that are into racing, check out Alex Zanardi's new book. I'm going to pick it up today. Thank GOD for people that get off their a$$es and deal with what life deals them.

I think she goes way beyond "babe". She obviously looks fantastic but her winning attitude make for a combination not found very often. In my life I have found that overcoming adversity has always made me stronger, people like Aimee as well as famous athletes like Lance Armstrong are proof of the fact that adversity can be turned into success. Make lemonade from lemons!
