The global-warming hypothesis, however, is no longer tenable. Scientists have been able to test it carefully, and it does not hold up. During the past 50 years, as atmospheric carbon dioxide levels have risen, scientists have made precise measurements of atmospheric temperature. These measurements have definitively shown that major atmospheric greenhouse warming of the atmosphere is not occurring and is unlikely ever to occur.

The temperature of the atmosphere fluctuates over a wide range, the result of solar activity and other influences. During the past 3,000 years, there have been five extended periods when it was distinctly warmer than today. One of the two coldest periods, known as the Little Ice Age, occurred 300 years ago. Atmospheric temperatures have been rising from that low for the past 300 years, but remain below the 3,000-year average.

One good volcanic eruption puts more ozone hostile compounds into the atmosphere than the entire activities of humans. I read an article a while back that correlated volcanic activity with climate temps and it was rather enlightening.

But volcanic eruptions also lower solar input thus lowering temperatures.

Kinda like a self regulating mechanism.

The IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) does agree that there is currently no way to distinguish between mankind’s effects on climate change & natural occurrences. That’s about it though. Their data seems to disprove concepts like the ‘little ice age’ that supposedly only happened 300 years ago & the claims that there has not been significant warming over the past 50 years. The Global Warming Myth guys are not too big on sources- I’m assuming the article is a compressed version of a full book, so maybe they do have some somewhere?

The US has very low volcano emissions per capita. Kyoto would kill us on cow farts. It doesn't matter, until we sign it. And that won't happen- even Hilary would decline on the grounds of protecting her bovine relatives.
