What with NASCAR events seemingly on every day, I think they're overexposing themselves. I usually watch 1 or 2 laps then get bored, but that's just me.

If you have every seen Marlin he is short, has bad teeth, and looks a little down syndromish. Oh yeah, he wears a toupee (little know fact). Anyway, he was by far the most arrogant perosn I ever met. He was a ***** to the waitress at the reatraunt we ate at and let a $10 tip on a $500 bill. The funny thing is I offered to pay for the meal and he acted like I couldn't afford it, although I make a good living. So when we were walking out I gave the waitress a extra $50 and apologized.
I had a similar experience w/ Marlin. I can say he is not typical. But, they are getting more and more like him.

The Jack Rousch story sounds like a normal racer hijinx that went wrong. I think he generally has more class than that. I hope so.

Look up Kyle Petty, sure he's not winning very much but off-track he's contributed alot.
He also races "other" cars from time to time, and when he does he turns both left and right and the car says "Porsche" on it.

I never unstood NASCAR from most points. Ok, its strategy, and if your watching for that, it makes sence. But 500 miles worth? My favorite track is Laguna Seca, one in which you CANNOT see the whole track from one standpoint. My favorite part is the fact that it has so many different sections, not just one big oval. I think its cool that NASCAR goes to Sears Point and other "right hand corner tracks", but even then its too small of a track... where are you supposed to pass?

Being an F1, WRC, Le Mans, Porsche finatic, it amazes me the popularity of NASCAR. I guess its jsut good advertisment.
