Wanna buy a(nother) fun car....need some help

I have Porsche myopia and don't ever look at other cars, so I need help picking one.
Criteria:
-Under $5,000
-Stiff, maybe uncomfortably so
-Lightweight
-No rust, no accidents (dents are cool)
-MANUAL Transmission (4-5-6 speed)
-Reliable
-Complete (not needing any work to have fun with it right now besides basic maint.)
-Fun to drive.
-LOUD....4-6-8 cylinders...but loud

Let it begin...

I think an early rx-7 fits your criteria.. and an open header rotary engine @8k is louder than armageddon..

I wouldn't have considered a Miata until I had to get one to race in this Spec Miata class. These little girly cars are incredibly fun, tight, cheap and bulletproof. I wish all women were like this. Anyway, you can get a '90 with no options for ~$3000. Lots of aftermarket go-fast and suspension stuff, too.

I would try to get the 1st gen(79-85) cause it's the lightest. You want the 13B(1.3L-135bhp) and not the 12A(1.2L-105bhp) engine. The 2nd gen is heavier and uglier, but they had the 13BTurbo that can handle ALOT of boost and really scream. There's some reliability issues with the 13B but they almost always stem from oil change neglect. Rotaries need frequent oil changes compared to a piston engine and the turbo makes it moreso - esp since they redline at 8k. I would stay away from the 3rd gen just cause they don't have the simplicity(sequential twin turbos) or support of the earlier cars(especially the 1st gen).

I would get a 1st gen roller, a 13bturbo motor/tranny, strip all the excess and you have a pretty scary little car. You might have enough leftover to build the engine. It's not hard to get 400hp @9k or more. A friend built one. He's eaten a few transmissions but it's scarey fast - it makes my 930 seem like a moped.

..and they are loud!
