Be sure to check with Zims as to the political leanings of their other customers and management first. You may not want to fund them either

Seriously,

I would say the views and opinions expressed on the website are not necassarily those of PP and/or it's management.

If the letter writer can't handle that I would say Buh Bye. I would look at the stack of complaint letters (just this one) and weigh it against all the kudos I receive from my other site members and laugh a hardy laugh whilst balling it up and tossing it in the trash.

Good?

Absolutely silly. You're feelings got hurt cuz the other posters (who are customers and have as much right to complain as YOU do) lambasted your beliefs which you expressed on a public forum and it's PP's fault?

I'd tell you to stay out of OT. You're here cuz the prices are right.. Get a grip man...

I take your D- and raise you an F. Wayne does not endorse either side here.

Given his rise in the P-Car parts world I would say he's doing well without your expert marketing advice.

Also, as a marketer I would be giddy with anything that keeps hundreds of people a day on my doorstep (even if just shootin the breeze) as they will logically buy from me when the mood strikes.

Do you really think Wayne keeps the OT up to be a nice guy? It keeps us here in his backyard. Wayne A+, Lynn D-

The obvious "real business world" reply would be:

" I don't get involved in that part of the website(he doesn't) but I will check into these charges. What are you saying again? That people are being banned for being liberal? If that is the case I will take care of it as that should never happen. The off topic area of the site by nature will have disagreements, but the site itself cannot/will not ever take sides. I hope you can understand my position on this."

Beyond that the dumass can leave. I would not shut down a highly active part of my site to satisfy one and piss off hundreds. That my friend IS business.

Sounds like you're looking for approval.

"The customer is always right UNITL THEY BREAK THE STORE POLICY. Then the customer is wrong"

I've got a background in sales and marketing, and one thing is for certain, you can't please everybody. What would you expect from an answer like that? 10% off for being unpopular? There is no real solution to your scenario.

I don't recall seeing any anti -democrat propaganda being spouted by PP so I don't understand your point of reference?

A link or two would be helpful here.

So you're complaining about abuse and/or misrepresentation? LOL! At least Wayne isn't operating under a false name as you did in the OT forum earlier this year.

Can't be done. Goodbye customer.

There is just no way you can please every customer. It is a wasteful pursuit to even try.

There you have it. We are not responsible for the opinions expressed on our BBS.

You have not only chosen to post on our forums, but also to engage others, as they have done to you. Unfortunately, we can't all always agree. We do however, try to keep our eyes on the forums, to make sure no one is being blatantly or otherwise offensive, inconsiderate etc.

Our moderators do what we consider a great job, however, they do operate at their own discretion, albeit in our best perceived interest. We ourselves, cannot provide both a free website, full of technical information, archives, photos, and a place for our members to hang out; and police the forums we provide at no charge.

If you feel that your feelings have been hurt, or you have been attacked, verbally insulted, or publicly humiliated, we whole-heartedly encourage you to report the post in question to one of our moderators, and the situation will be reviewed and handled accordingly.

Once again, we remind you that although we can't make everyone happy all the time, we do look forward to trying.

Thanks again for the support and loyalty you provide to our site, and we look forward to serving you in the future.

I am a cry-baby, whinning, bleeding-heart liberal.

You are correct! Most other people would have realized that this is a OT forum and as such are the views and thoughts of the other CUSTOMERS, not Wayne or PP and would have gone elsewhere if they were not comfortable.

Posting this wanting to either stir up some brown material or get hugs or pats on the back from fellow liberals is not going to work.

Get off of the computer, get back to work and make a decision of where to buy the new starter. Since you seem to frequent the PP bulletin board it would be nice to give PP them a chance at your business but if not then STOP CRYING about it and do something productive for a change!

Joe A

PS Used to live near Zims and you really need to check with them first. Seem to remember that Texas is not exactly a hotbed of liberals...

PSS This bulletin board is the best tool a 911 owner can have, period. If you are silly enough to mess this up posting like this then please buy a Pinto and be happy!

Funny thread - a buddy emailed this thread to me - and it pretty much hits a nail on the head in my case.

I swore off Pelican a while back pretty much for the reasons outlined here. I'm pretty thick-skinned, but the repeated pattern of bashing of liberal views had gone beyond all reason. Virtually any thread started on a "liberal premise" quickly deteriorated into several conservatives beating-up on one or (at best) two liberals. These were not intellectual beatings, nor simply the rigors of the enthusiatic exchange of "information", but boiled down to the simple laying on of epithets and anti-American labels.

I have been called some pretty foul things here many, many times until enough became enough.

Now the link between the exchange of views on the OT board and the consumption of Pelican merchandise is a clear one in my case.

Many was the time I would cruise the Pelican site (including OT, tech and other sections) as part of a general sense of comraderie with fellow Porsche lovers in the exchange of information. Often was the time I would catch a comment in one of the boards that would incent me to purchase goods from Pelican (H-4 headlights, LM-1 meter, Dansk mufflers, Steve Wong chips are excellent examples). Such purchases would not have happened (and will not in the future) because of these chance gatherings of knowledge or intelligence. This wont happen anymore because I have decided that the Pelican site does not represent a group of people that I want to "hang with".

I have other boards (real estate, wine, electronics, finance, law) where I find a more civilized environment. I will spend my time there rather than Pelican.

So long, (once again) Pelicanites!

Thank you for your support of Pelican Parts.

Your "Democrat " comment is seared...seared in my mind.

Lynn, if I wanted to buy a cool 911embroydered hat YOU would be the first person I would contact. I certainly wouldn't try to have you "say uncle (about your misguided political leanings), pre-purchase . . .or I'm walking away". THat is just childish . .. or liberal. . .

Believe it or not, I actually woke up at 4 am this morning thinking about it and wondering if Wayne had ever thought about it too.

Just for once, Lendaddy and others---

If the roles were reversed and everytime a conservative posted, a large group of liberals jumped in and the discussion quickly deteriorated into several liberals beating-up on one or (at best) two conservatives--would you still love the OT?
I wouldn't let it get in the way of whether or not I chose to do business with PP since (and it's been proven) that Wayne and CO have no views either way. If I was offended, I'd never come back to OT and only order my parts -

What is it with these people who try to stand on one end of an argument only to have their point defended by "their dignity", "feelings", feel like they're being "attacked' Talk about being the proverbial martyr.

Enough already. Quit trying to throw PP in the pot as ante if you lose your arguments..

I've also grown fairly tired of the baiting and the nastiness, but only because of how repetitive that baiting and nastiness has become. Same old voices, same old points, blah, blah, blah.

But to blame Wayne and/or Pelican Parts for the existence of "name calling" etc., in a forum is a stretch beyond rational thought. It seems to me that individuals on this thread who will dissolve their patronage of PP because of some rough-housing on an inconsequential OT forum is nothing other than a good amount of whining and misguided tit-for-tat.

My question is, if the same political banter, injurous as it can be, optional, however, for anyone to become involved in, were to happen at your place of work, would you blame the employee and at that, quit your job? Or would you take the high road and simply not get involved?

Options, you see. You forgot you have options.

But then, I don't hang out at Walmart either, because most of the customers there seem to have excessive amounts of BO - and I guess _____ (insert name here) Walton can't do anything about that either. So I guess we can't expect Wayne to have control over the dikheads that run around his site either.

It's comforting to know that I don't have to worry about running into the likes of island911 ever again, now that I've sworn off both Walmart and Pelican.

hey - it's kinda fun to be an ashhole - I guess I should hang onto that conservative party membership card after all!
