I've had great luck with Toshiba's. All tube type TV's are becoming dirt cheap compared to 5 yrs ago.

Might look for one that has a sleep timer. Also a wake up timer is very nice as well.
Sony for tube type TV's and Mitsubishi's for HD are very good products. JoeA

There's a new generation of flatter standard tube TVs expected at CES this year.

Techweenie,
I hope so, love the tubes. I bought a Sanyo 20 LCD Flat Panel, and took it back, the picture was horrible. I ended up with an LG 17 wide screen LCD with DVD player, picture better, but still not a tube. Michael

Michael, the current generation DLP TVs will not disappoint, but the prices won't be coming down for another 7-9 months.
Expect the new thinner tube TVs to be in short supply until late Spring. I've stuck with 4:3 up to now, but next year will probably go to a 16:9. I'm setting up a 'home theater' room for 5.1 sound and what the golden ears types call "critical listening." (See the Random Pictures thread.) Another new development is high end DVRs with built- in Basic TiVo (no fees, ever). Some time next year, the wireless media server will start to emerge, and that should be interesting.

Coincidently, there's a discussion on CNET today:
